I listened to this when it came out and it didn't really vibe with me for some reason, despite being the kind of thing I typically like. But listening to it now, I enjoyed it more than I remember doing contemporaneously.

I'm not a huge fan of many of these songs out of context, but somehow during the album I was loving every second

Yet another classic of aughts-era indie rock. This album is so hype. Great guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. The whole package.
Rated 8/10
Indie rock similar to TV on the Radio, Modest Mouse, or Arcade Fire. The one thing that struck me funny is the fact that the band is playing along normally, all while the drummer shreds his drum set. It's like watching Animal from the Muppets play drums. Dude is high, fast energy. Definately the star of the band. Super talented

Somehow missed these guys back when they were around. Fits right into the alt-rock of the era, with a little extra boost to their percussion section. Liked it!

YESSSSS! I love this fucking album. excellent dynamics and mix, great clean guitar tones, honey smooth vocals, crazy synth blats and textures.

Easy 5 stars one of my favourite 00’s indie albums and bands. Probably one of my favourite live performances when I seen bloc party back in 2006.
I still think they are such an underrated band, probably not helped by the fact they never surpassed this debut album, and the UK indie scene at the time became so bloated with rubbish music.

The sound of the end of student life for me - I've got a couple of the 7" singles from this album in my collection, and a lot of fond memories of most of the songs.
For this reason, more than strictly on artistic merit, I have to give this full marks.
A wonderful album

These guys sound like the link between Blur and more modern groups like Squid, except they have this tendency to keep lapsing into this almost Coldplay like emotional stuff that prevents me from fully embracing it. Quite enjoy the more propulsive rhythm driven tracks though.
