Stranger in Town

Old Time Rock and Roll is the ultimate boomer anthem. Hollywood Nights and some other rock and roll tunes made this fun but very much dated.

Tylsä jenkkirock-levy. 2/5

Absolute gem of a record. Deeply steeped in nostalgia for me. Takes me back to trips in dad's big old black square body Chev. He had this album on casette and played the shit out of it.

Favourite songs: Old Time Rock & Roll, Hollywood Nights, Ain't Got No Money, We've Got Tonight, Still The Same

Least favourite songs: Till it Shines

A titan of oldies radio. Agreed with people that this could easily bump something off the original list, but I'm not exactly Invested in the fight

I'm just not big on generic 70s rock. It doesn't do anything for me at all.

I understand including this, it's better than you'd expect, and you can find it in every record store and Goodwill in America, so it certainly left its mark. I just feel like this sort of album was done better with other acts on the original list, and something about Old Time Rock & Roll rubs me the wrong way, feels like Bob Seger is an old man yelling at a cloud, when he was barely thirty. Fine album. Still the Same doing A LOT of heavy lifting.

A classic of classic rock, much copied and much parodied, and well worth a place in the book. I'm not sure what it would replace though; maybe an expansion (to 1,501 albums?) is overdue?
As for this album, it's a cracker and a great nomination

Great rock album, should 100% be on the original list, would happy replace one of the many Bruce Springsteen albums for it.

Chock full of hits. The Pepsi to Springsteen's Coke?
