I like this a lot for about the first twenty or thirty minutes, but it got a little samey after a while. Still, pretty good; strong three.

Kiinnostava ajoittain, mutta liian pitkä. 40 min tiivistelmänä voisi olla nelonenkin.

Some very cool things, but I wanted some audio clarity and more instruments by the end.

In 1985, Arthur Russell was employed by GRANT guitar effects pedals to record a demo of their equipment. Unforunately, Russell spend all of his advance on LSD. While the recording (World of Echo) demonstrated the full potential of the pedals, it was so weird that it sunk GRANT and there is no evidence of their existence, not even on the internet.

Super unique. I love how many unique sounds he manages to get out of a cello. His voice is also very pretty. My one complaint is that it's a bit over the top with the effects. So much reverb.

The Name of the Next Song should be "Shut the Fuck Up". This was horrible.

Favorite songs: Being It, Wax the Van

Least favorite songs: Tone Bone Kone, Answers Me, Tower of Meaning/Rabbit's Ear/Home Away From Home, Let's Go Swimming, The Name of the Next Song

This is one of those albums for me where brilliance flickers in and out between deeply personal noise. In both cases, it can feel like you're eavesdropping on a private transmission not quite meant for you. That can be fascinating, or alienating, depending on your headspace.

Yea there was a time I thought John Cage was cool too. There is something sort of hauntingly beauty to these songs, see Being It. But boy does this thing overstay its welcome with the bonus tracks, and the closer on the regular album Let's Go Swimming is no prized peach either. Fuck this thing.

What the hell even was that? And why did I like it so much? And who was he? And, most importantly, what the hell was that?
I have no idea how this ever got a mainstream(ish) release, but there's a touch of magic there, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to a collection of songs that I would definitely never have heard without this project!

My head’s turned into an empty cavern. Sole occupant: one cello. Fun headphones listen, did not need to be over an hour.

Rated 4/10

Not for me this one jsut seemed to go on and on without going anywhere.

Rated 4/10

I want to like this more, but the vocals ruin it for me.
