Wait, do I love jazz fusion jam?

These guys might be nice to have playing in the background during a chill summer festival, but to actually listen to it? No thanks.

Vocals remind me a lot of Kings of Leon. Music sounds like Grateful Dead crossed with Phish. Suffers the way all jam bands do. Overstaying their welcome and spending far too long canoodling. May be cool if actually at this concert, but to be completely detached and just listening to it, it loses something. As jam bands go, this is definately one of the better ones.

Always makes me a little sad when the top reviews are a parade of 1 & 2-stars, especially when it's jam music, which a lot of people really love to hate & impress their friends with how much they hate it.

I do agree with most of the people here that this one's pretty mediocre, though. Way too beholden to Phish, but also has a much shallower bag of tricks. Very little variation in instruments, dynamics, rhythm, tempo, etc, and they never manage to pull off krautrock-style hypnotism. Felt like any time I really started to settle into a groove, they'd start doing shit like playing the Pink Panther theme and I'd get yanked back out of it.

I've been trying to get more into jam music lately. I still haven't 100% gotten it to click but I'm enjoying it more and more. This was a pretty entertaining listen. Very funky and upbeat yet chill. The Ghostbusters song was a fun unexpected ending.

good lord this is pretty dull.

Sounds like a fun gig, but one I wasn't at! A nice suggestion, from a band I had literally never heard of, but I might have preferred a studio album rather than a live show.

Rated 4/10

This is inoffensive, I guess? The length isn't as much of an issue as it seems, as plenty of albums on the generator extend past this album's length, so I'm used to it. The playing is also quality, dare I say GOOD at some moments, but the album as a whole just doesn't do much for me. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but the person who added this has to be a member of this band, right? Friends with them, at least? They obviously have a small following, but this feels too niché to be the album I just had to listen to at the end of the 1001 rainbow. I'm all for small acts getting represented, but this feels a bit suspicious, is all. Again, though, it's fine. Not as bad as some other reviews are treating it.

I’ve tried. Again. And I think it’s safe to say now: jam bands just aren’t for me.

Whether it’s Phish, the Grateful Dead, or Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, I hear the same directionless improvisation, fret-wanking, and fan-driven mystique… but I don’t feel anything. I get why these bands have such a devoted following: by relentless touring, high-energy live shows, and a communal vibe, but none of that translates to my listening experience.

As for The Great Outdoors Jam, it brings me absolutely nothing. No standout melodies, no emotional pull, not even the novelty of weirdness to hold on to. Just a long, flat blur of jamming. I endured it more than I listened to it.

You must have quite a high opinion of yourself and your taste to foist a 75-minute jam band album on strangers. What the fuck is wrong with you? Rethink every life choice you've ever made.

Good fun live album, would I come back to it, probably not, some of the Jams are just a bit long for my taste.
