Osa biiseistä ihan hyviä ja hyvällä energialla, osa lähinnä kohinaa. 2/5

This happened, I guess.

This fills a space between metal and post rock. I don't know who wanted that space filled, I certainly did not. It didn't go hard enough to be background of a fight and didn't really reach for other emotion.

Had to take a couple runs at it because this is very much not good music for working to.
I don't have a great sense of what defines the boundary of shoegaze vs. something more along the lines of ambient or post-rock, but I have learned during my time on this site that I prefer my shoegaze to be on the heavier & more oppressive side. Bootgaze.

Enjoyed the quieter parts more than the roaring.

So much distortion. It's just a wall of fuzz with everything just out of focus. No clue what the "singer" is yelling about, but according to the Wikipedia page, the album is about the loss of his girlfriend in a car accident. That sucks. Oddly, even though it's just noise, the emotions of pain and loss do come through. It feels like the inner struggles of someone going through it. When your in the thick of an emotional rollercoaster, and there is just noise in your head...
This isn't an album that you pop on to listen to at a party, or on a road trip. This is an album to pop on when you are suffering pain or loss to help cope with the feelings.
Not my favourite album, but I appreciate its existance, and glad to have listened to it.
Favourite songs: The Resonance of Goodbye, Burning in the Undertow of God

I'm not sure if it finally won me over by the end or if it's just Stockholm Syndrome, but I was starting to get the sound by the end. I love the texture and the vocals are nice most of the time, too. I just feel like at first I really felt like each song was what a movie trailer sounds like if you played it back at half speed, 140p. It got old fast with the first few tracks. But I liked the calmer side shown on the last few tracks, and I wish the ambient feeling was more present throughout, but I respect this more than I like it, probably.

Kinda all blended together for me to be honest. It's very muddy. Maybe a better recording could've improved it.

This is not music meant to make you feel comfortable, and that’s exactly why it’s worth hearing. On the surface, or maybe at a first listen, it can sound like one unbroken wall of sound, but it’s anything but. The album is built from carefully dark and heavy layered textures that only started to reveal themselves on my second listen. I guess I was a lot more susceptible to the album today than I was yesterday.
Because despite my initial thought, it’s surprisingly accessible. The melodies are clear enough to follow, even through all the distortion, and when I gave it my full attention, it really connected.
I found this to be a majestic, challenging and adventurous record. Thanks to submitter!

What a depressing wall of noise, I absolutely loved it!
