This is way too overproduced for my taste. It's too artificial-sounding; it feels completely emotionless. I quite liked "Take a Slice," though.

Turns out this is the same band that wrote Heat Waves, a song I genuinely hated. This is a lot better than that, which raises the question of what happened to them in between.
How to Be a Human Being has sultry rhythms suitable for a summer festival, and Life Itself and Take a Slice, my favourite here, show a band with real texture and personality. But it has proper lows too, Cane Shugah being the clearest example, and the flat vocals become tiresome over a full album.
Decent, with genuine highs and genuine lows. I won't be revisiting it, but it was fun while it lasted. If they're ever on a festival lineup here in Australia, I might actually go check them out.

Does a very 2010s indie thing where it opens super bombastic, and then the rest of the songs are completely different than that. It's pretty close to my taste, but not quite there. Couldn't really say why though.

Some really great electronic numbers
Rated 4/10
Pretty poor, but exactly the kind of nonsense that could be overhyped all the way into the charts and into contention for awards nominations in the UK, especially if the right people in the industry took a shine to them.
Rated 4/10
Heat Waves is one of the worst pop songs of the 2020s, but this was nearly half a decade earlier, so let's give it a fair shake here. Finished the album, and it really isn't anything special. Is it terrible? No, but it's awfully sterile, and none of its quirks feel genuine. There were some decent songs, but then it would throw in a weird part that just made the whole song clunky. Would rather not listen to this again, may make me dislike it more.

I agree there is room on the list for glass animals. I just wouldn’t rave about it myself
Rated 4/10
Not my style. I'm too old to understand this new pop rock stuff. Indie is always hit or miss with me. This one just missed the mark. Similar to alt-J or OneRepublic. It sounds the same to me as the rest of the music being made today.
Favorite songs: Life Itself, Pork Soda, Poplar St
Least favorite songs: Season 2 Episode 3, [Premade Sandwiches], Mama's Gun
