Classic - 5 Stars. Easy to see why some consider this the greatest album ever made.

5.0/5.0: Iconic

Kind of perfect. Me and all my uni friends loved this album. Davis' sax is his voice.

I thought I'd get bored of this, but nope, great album, classic!

I don’t think I appreciate jazz as much as I should. I will definitely listen to this more later. Excellent performances from all involved. Favorite song is Freddie Freeloader

Great jazz album. Wouldn't have minded listening longer. 3.5/5

Not only my favourite jazz album, but one of my overall favourite albums of all time.

I just love how an album can be so assessable and sophisticated at the same time. Brilliant soothing back ground music, but sit down and critically listen and you are in for a treat of musical layers of beauty and emotion.

An absolute masterpiece in every sense of the word. 5 stars

Jazz is just not really for me.

I can appreciate the musicianship and the influence this album has had, but as a listening experience it does very little for me. It feels slow and meandering, and I struggle to stay engaged. I know this is considered one of the greatest albums ever recorded, but it simply does not connect with me.

There is no doubt the playing is technically superb, and you can hear the skill and restraint in every note. It is just not a sound or style that moves me in the way rock or soul does.

Favourite song: I genuinely could not pick one that stood out.
Least favourite: The overall experience felt dull to me.
Album artwork: A fairly standard jazz cover, understated and serious, much like the music itself

Fantastic record. I feel like this is one of the first, probably the first, record you would play for someone who has never heard jazz before. This is a record you can sit and listen to and pick apart or you can throw it on in the background when you're doing other things. Whether or not you like jazz, this is something that anyone who just appreciates music will be into.

amazing jazz

I didn't realize I enjoyed jazz so much when I started this, but here is another awesome album I could listen to on repeat.

Rated 10/10

Total classic. One of my favorite albums regardless of genre.

The music is fine, but this style of jazz is not really all that engaging to me. I've always wondered why, and I think I finally realized it's because of the group dynamic (or lack thereof). This album is primarily a collection of very talented soloists performing in immediate succession under the pretense of a collection of songs. Each songs starts as an ensemble piece, that gives way around the 1m mark to a medley of spotlight swapping solo showcases. I'm amazed at the patience of the rhythm section, as they play along while everyone else gets to do whatever they want.

I'm a filthy millennial, so I'm clearly not educated enough to understand or conceptualise this properly. Kids these days just don't understand what the jazz is all about.

So now that my ignorant and stupid position is established... this is fine. You know, in a kind of reasonably nice, background, boring way. There's some nice trumpet in there. My thoughts on this may be more easily summarised with a slow head-nod and a lip sticking out, in a kind of 'not bad, but ultimately I don't really care' face.

2.5 rounded up.

Eh, I prefer this over the sound of everyone tuning on top of each other for twenty minutes at a time, but Miles Davis continues to prove to me that I don't get jazz. I just don't understand what makes this so amazing. Often it is boring more than anything, and with how long winded each song can be, it can even be annoying. I could see enjoying this in the moment at a club or something, but just listening? Total bore. Nice piano playing, though.

Yksi kaikkien aikojen isoimmista jazz-levyistä eikä syyttä. Tulispa jo syksyn sateet jotta vois vielä enemmän virittyä tunnelmaan. 5/5

GOATED. Next question.

a pleasant listen from start to finish and it sounds amazing

Cómo sopla el audio analógico al principio de "So what". Qué raro resulta oír ese ruido hoy en día en un mundo de silencio digital y remásteres. Me gusta pero no es de los que más he disfrutado.
