Pallbearer do a little twist on the doom metal genre - instead of going for the sound that shakes the ground, they devise a plan to create a total opposite. A cosmiche doom sound.

And it works. They sound sort of like Warning, but with more emphasis on instrumentals, rather than vocals. Each song has a sound that differentiates it from one another, along with having an almost "a-ha!" moment placed somewhere. The lyrics are philosophical and mysterious, with the theme of the passing of life being the focal point of the whole shebang.

A surprise really, considering metal isn't really my forte. Especially modern metal. But doom is an outlier in that, and this modern take is a real eyebrow raiser in the best way possible!
