Oh what a weird album. After their breakouts with the Day and Night duet of albums, they fully embraced the poppier glam sound and rolled with it.
This album sounds and feels like a deck of cards: all the songs are unified by the same structure, but the names of the games are different. You have the two pop rock heavy hitters at the beginning, which are anthems for a reason. Then it gets tricky. Some of the songs like Spread Your Wings and Get Down Make Love are good, while the rest is forgettable. Shoutouts to Who Needs You, a song weirdly out of place that sounds really cute.
Overall, a decent foray, but I think the biggest thing we can get out of this album is that Queen was out of gas for a full albums full of amazing music.
