This is some very tasteful Balkan folk music (from my knowledge: Macedonian, Bosnian and Romani) with jazz polish across the surface. Goykovich is a master at his craft, and his choice of influences, standards to cover, and the band to do so with, is splendid and without a misstep.
"Bem-Basha" is a local sevdalinka tune that's been covered in plenty of ways, and by plenty of musicians (including yours truly), but I've never heard it in a jazz format that mixes those delicate ethnic sounds with the sleekness of the trumpet. Some extra fine gourmand stuff.
