A 57-year-old man employs every cliché he can conjure up in the most embarrassing, sophomoric poetry imaginable. This guy is Salieri to Dylan's and Cohen's Mozart: he recognizes the greatness but can only ape it, turning what was once astonishingly original into something grotesque. As for the Springsteen comparison, that's fair, since Springsteen sucks, too.

Rated 6/10

I can look through the Dylan comparisons, for I have plenty of albums that I'd consider being copies/being inspired heavily by older artists.

But this album is missing something. Might be the length of it, or the safeness of the tracks, but I didn't feel invested at any moment other than the track "Back Home". It's not bad, it just feels very much like the product of its time: melodic reminiscing to the days of youth. Something the 00s were full of.
