On the Bandcamp page, someone describes this music as "simulacra", which in this case means "songs nested within themselves". I'm not even sure what that means. Is it like wheels within wheels? Outer complexity that references an interior interplay? My first question, actually, is why this strange and fearless collective named their album after a medicinal plant that grows high in the mountains. Every moment of this album is brilliant, from the off-key singing to the simulated bear groans to the whimsical, faerie-like female vocals to the quirky, community-theater-style dramatic structures. Turn left...no, I mean right. Whatever. Left is right.
