This was the last album I bought from a guy selling a collection of records from a radio station. It was between it and House Of The Holy, and I'm glad I choose this one.
It’s weird, and warm, and kind of all over the place in the best way possible. Some of it is playful and silly (Monkberry Moon Delight is full-on nonsense with Screaming Jay Hawkins-esque vocals), but a lot of it is just honest. And that makes it feel really human.
What I love most is that it doesn’t feel like he’s trying to prove anything. It’s not trying to be some grand Beatles follow-up. But instead, it's one of those albums where the charm is in the effortless ability to create a mellow soundscape without trying.
It’s the kind of record that grows on you. You might not get it right away, but one afternoon, it’ll suddenly hit you.

At least this is better than whatever the fuck Wings ever did.
Rated 8/10
Not as good as his previous band or his next band, but solid and wilfully weird. Interesting as well as a solid album, and to be honest, the surprise is that it wasn't included in any edition of the book!

It's fascinating how much creative juice the Beatles still had at the time of their breakup. Within a year of the unofficial split, they all made bold statements. Lennon released the personal Plastic Ono Band, Harrison proved with the triple All Things Must Pass that he was absolutely the most underrated Beatle, and Ringo... remained Ringo.
McCartney also carried on with his head held high. He's a master at using relatively simple melodies and letting them expand into highly lively and compelling listening experiences. On Ram, he's in damn good form. At times it's a bit "Rompe-tom-tom", but leave it to McCartney to draw precisely the best from the album without detracting from the quality of the songwriting.
From Paul and Linda's passionate vocal performances to the rich, multi-faceted songs, Ram was clearly created with a lot of love. If someone claims this is the best post-Beatles album, I can see where they're coming from.
The album's strength lies in its almost complete lack of weak moments. "Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey," "Monkberry Moon Delight," and "The Back Seat of My Car" are the standouts for me.
Rated 8/10
Arguably one of Paul’s best works post Beatles, desires to be on the List.
Rated 2/10
maybe the most overrated album of all time
Rated 8/10
Honestly pretty solid, but he's also the Beatle whose post-Beatles career I'm least interested by
Rated 10/10
A far superior choice to McCartney's first solo album for inclusion on the list.
