classic. Every song was something novel and cool. None of the individual songs were ear worms, but the whole was amazing.

Rated 8/10

Hyvä garage-levy! 4/5

Rated 4/10

The Good: the medical reference to the album
The Bad: the white blood cells are incapable of doing their job.
The Ugly: again I need to wonder why certain albums are included in this list....

A wasn't a huge fan of the White Stripes when they emerged on the scene, and after listening to this album I can understand why I am still NOT a fan.
So many indie bands that are million times better.

Don't get me wrong, you can have this album playing in the background and you'd not notice... which is good and bad. Still, not to my liking.

White Blood Cells was a pretty enjoyable album. I always love a rough guitar sound in indie rock albums and this album had it in spades really having that fun little garage rock style. Also, some of the songs just went far harder than i was expecting from their names. Like I Think I Smell a Rat had such a goofy title yet ended up going so hard which i just find so funny and the fact that the song, of course, sounds really good. My only real issue with this album is the fact that some of the songs don't go on for long enough in some cases but other than that, this is a fun album i can easily recommend.
Best Song: The Union Forever
Worst Song: Little Room

After checking out the follow-up Elephant, this will be the second White Stripes album I've listened to on this journey. I've already heard the first two songs before - "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" and "Hotel Yorba" - and between those two and "Fell in Love with a Girl", this album starts pretty strong for the garage rock revival that the pair were going for at the time.

As far as the pacing goes, I think this album drags a bit toward the end, particularly the instrumental "Aluminum" which I did not care for with the distorted wordless screaming over the droning guitar riff. There are fun tracks sprinkled throughout like "The Union Forever", "Offend in Every Way" and "I Think I Smell a Rat", but at the same time, this effort could have benefited from a trimmed-down tracklist.

White Blood Cells may not be as strong as Elephant would follow, but it is still a solid album and gets a light recommendation if you're curious.

Rated 8/10

Very solid offering from the Whites

Rated 6/10

The most white stripes of white stripes album. I don't get the rules of minimalism, but I assume Jack black does.

Rated 6/10

Overall good. I like the rawness of this record, and I'm always down for some Jack White guitar. There's some big hitting songs in here, and I like some of the softer songs too like "We're going to be friends". There's a bit of bloat in there, and it doesn't all hit for me.

Rated 8/10

I can remember the moment I was introduced to the White Stripes, they appeared on Jools Holland on BBC2 and banged out "Hotel Yorba" and I was all in, 2 minutes of insanity. The acoustic version on the single I bought days later sealed the deal. Simple garage rock that somehow sounds amazing.

And this is a Meg White appreciation post

You can't go wrong with Napoleon Dynamite music

Rated 10/10

Total classic for my taste. I remember being taken completely off guard by 'We're Going to Be Friends', possibly the most unique and best song on this already great album. Also, look up the video for 'Fell In Love With a Girl'. It might seem quaint in today's age of CGI and AI, but at the time, it was really something, especially for a then more or less indie band.

Rated 4/10

I remember when we first heard “Fell In Love With A Girl” my friends and I thought “This sounds like a Gap commercial.” It still does. I like the first song. The rest ranges from mildly irritating to skillful and not unpleasant but rather derivative.

Rated 6/10

Rated 8/10

The first half of this album is so good. Had me dancing all over morning. The second half is still good, but not as grabbing.

Rated 10/10

Ushered in an era of lo-fi blues posers. That in itself is both unforgivable and welcome. Unusual, heavy, bare-bones, intense, and satisfying. Actual songs that don't overstay their welcome. Some raw emotion down at the end that sounds more bitter 20 years on. Great genre-defining album with one of the most interesting drummers ever.

Rated 6/10

It's not great. Fell in Love With a Girl was a massive hit that catapulted the band into superstardom, but there's just nothing exceptional about this album. Jack White is an incredible guitar player, but you wouldn't know it listening to this album. In fact, it sounds like a couple teenagers set up in their basement. The drumming is absolutely dreadful, to the point it sounds like the drummer had only learned how to play 6 months previously and only knows how to keep time in the most basic 4/4 signature and fills won't come for another 6 months. In terms of star rating, it's not "bad," yet I don't know that I would say it's "good," either. I wish there was a way to give it 2.5 stars.

Rated 8/10

A good one. Always love the loose drumming on white stripes albums. And the guitar sound is just perfect

Rated 10/10

YES this album just kills from front to back. So many of their most iconic songs and zero filler. Love it.

Rated 8/10

Good stuff as usual from the White Stripes. Not quite as good overall as Elephant.
