Such a beautiful dreamscape. The sound may not be unique, but it's masterful and pitch perfect, done better than anyone else does it.

Люблю сонік юс 90х, а з дейдрім нейшн якось не склалось в мене.

Sonic Youth is just not my taste. Not bad, not great.

Well yea the intro song has been stuck in my head since the day i first heard it. Love this one

This album started off so so good, but it just got really boring and repetitive!

Was also way too long by the end. Shame really

Congeals the disparate veins the 80s underground - art school punk, hardcore, post-punk, post-rock, no-wave, experimental composition, noise rock - into an album that's dissonant & melodic, angry & blissful, distorted & chrystaline, grimy & pure, heavy & ethereal, earthy & haunted, driving & sprawling, tense & cathartic. Perfect.

Our fourth Sonic Youth album on the 1001. I probably like this one the most, but still find it difficult to differentiate between all their other albums.

Rated 4/10

When you make a clone of the Velvet Underground, then clone it again, then clone the clone, you get this untuned unlistenable non-sequitor spewing garbage. Like the bad practice tapes of the crappy punk band I was in as a 17 year old, except somehow they made a record? Because they're from New York maybe?

At first it was "Oh, a little Smashing Pumpkins precursor, ok!" but they really lean into the atonal stuff REALLY HARD. The only emotion it evokes is annoyance. And this from a person who has seen this band live and paid money for at least one of their albums (which also is not good).

One of the most overrated bands of all time and absolutely the most overrated band of the alternative rock era (1986 - 1994 approximately when all these guys - Pavement, Dinosaur Jr, etc. - got major labels deals because of Nirvana).

1 extra star for the song 'Cross the Breeze, and Kim Gordon.

Rated 6/10

Many good songs, but also some that are not really my type of music.

I don’t always love Sonic Youth, but I do love this record. That is, perhaps, typical.

Rated 8/10

It's been a long time since I listened to Sonic Youth. It was nice to hear them again. Some of the music isn't very catchy, but I still enjoy it.

Great bit of noisy alternative rock. Lots of great songs like the opening track. However, it does get a bit same-y at times.

My first sonic youth album. Teen age riot reminds me of the strokes.
Very instrumental, which grew on me by 'cross the breeze.
I think I enjoyed the instrumentals more than the vocals on this album. There are occasional moments that are really neat (eric's trip, intro to 'cross the breeze). 2.5 rounded up to 3*
Enjoyed total trash. Back half of the album got too "noisy" for me.

ahead of its time

A lot of interesting ideas, even if some of them should have been cut form the album.

3.0/5.0: Good

Rated 8/10

this album grew on me as it went on. it was some interesting musical elements but i think the songs tend overstay their welcome. i think they could really benefit from cutting the length of some of the songs

Rated 10/10

Teen Age Riot takes me bak to simpler times, and this whole album just makes me want to go out and shoot skate videos with fisheye lenses...

Rated 8/10

Welp, it appears I’ve discovered yet another album that I’ve slept on for too long! Room to grow for this one.
