Very solid...

Heavy Weather was a pretty good album. This album apparently is a fusion of jazz and rock (i have heard other albums on this project like that) but i feel that for this one, the jazz elements take center stage and make the rock elements fell like a bit of an afterthought and it stays that way for the whole album (except for that one track that sounds like street drumming). My only issue with this album is the fact that one of the songs did get a little too quiet for no good reason but other than that, this album was a good listen and definitely better than the average jazz album.
Best Song: The Juggler
Worst Song: Harlequin

This isnt my jazz jam

This definitely sounds like the theme music to some old-school knockabout police show, and as such it's kind of hard to take seriously. How on earth this made it onto the list I have no idea at all.

Rated 6/10

Enjoyable jazz, not really my thing, as I don't know enough about it to properly appreciate what's going on, but I liked it and enjoyed listening to something I would never otherwise have heard.

I’m. Sick. Of. 70s. Shit.

310 albums, 95 of them from the 70s. That’s ridiculous.

As to this album, I have no idea what it is. Jazz, I guess? I don't get jazz, and then you add in all the weird 70s organs and I just can't.

Of course, I already knew Birdland beforehand. The song is still played everywhere and is a real hit. I wasn't familiar with the band or the album. It's nice that this has now changed. I like the music and the rhythm. Even if I don't like the whole album, I will listen to individual tracks again and again.

The Mario Kart soundtrack is a better jazz fusion record. No shade on this one either

Kind of a strange album. Not the best. 1.5/5

I thought I only knew Birdland, but on listening I realized I've listened to this whole album before. I think only Birdland is really memorable though. Jaco Pastorius' bass playing is next level, but it doesn't translate into an engaging whole for me.

There are some incredible musicians on this, but 70s jazz fusion is not my jam. Weird that this album made the list and not so many other better jazz albums.

Rated 8/10

This is just fun to listen to. The bass is definitely the highlight for me. Favorite songs are Birdland, Teen Town, and Havona

They do not heed Miles’ admonition: “Don't worry about playing a lot of notes. Just find one pretty one.”

Rated 6/10

Treads the fine line between good high-production 80s jazz and annoying dissonant 80s jazz. Loved the closing track though.

YESSSSS! JACO!!!!! Every song on here is beautiful and I love this mess. Teen Town kills it. Havona is so good. Damn this album is just so tight.

Rated 4/10

I've heard the whole of this album before... that time I was on hold waiting to get a refund from BT.

I like the artwork though.

Okay, this is cooool. Obvious five stars for atmospheric instrumental jazz with just enough synth to keep you on your toes.

Rated 6/10

Not a great fan of this sort of jazz fusion, but birdland is a stand out song. Glad I listened worth list entry but won’t make my rotation.

Before today I had never heard of Weather Report. They are a fusion jazz band (jazz mixed with rock and funk). The music reminded me of upbeat TV show theme songs from the 80's and 90's.

Jaco Pastorius has been called the "Jimi Hendrix of bass playing" and I can see why! Just have a listen to the songs Teen Town or Palladium, or from the extended release of the album, Black Market, and you will hear it too! His bass playing is phenomenal!!

This is great ambiance music, and I really like how they blend jazz and funk together really well!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this album! Not something for heavy rotation, but I would listen again for sure!

Favourite songs: Birdland, Black Market (Live), Rumba Mama, Havona, Teen Town, A Remark You Made, Palladium, The Juggler

Least favourite song: Harlequin

I think I listened to this years ago but forgot all about it. Thought it was great this time around, very groovy bass!
