Much of the sentiment I have for the soundtrack of Twin Peaks can be echoed here as well. Not as great as the comparable soundtrack to Twin Peaks, but still, the mysterious quality it possesses parries that of the soundtrack. The arrangements are done nicely by the man himself, who really has a knack for putting together these cold, yet pathologically warm albums that give new impressions on each listen.
I'm glad this album exists when I need to scratch that mysterious, dreamy female fronted sophisti-pop, or just when the two songs from the Soundtrack are not enough. It's sad that she never expanded much onto it, and rode it into the deep, dark night.

This album is the musical equivalent of fireworks going off in your dream. They're not quite real, the explosions are soft, but the colors are more vibrant. It is a trip down a memory lane you've never traveled before, taking you on a surreal Jungian journey. Cruise's breathy vocals, Badalamenti's soporific arrangements, and Lynch's storytelling lyrics combine to create a cool, twilit garden of longing. This album isn't in a hurry to go anywhere, and indeed, it doesn't go anywhere, unless you count spinning as traveling, so don't rush the inner journey.
