Deathbed album right here, as in, if you have just one more album to listen to, to get you on your way to your eternal destiny, this is a contender. Close your eyes and let the highway take you. Your day is but a life, and the day is at its end. The summer has passed. You've walked through fields of clover, and that's all gone now. Let this album be the companion to your final sighs.

Rated 8/10

Our Mother the Mountain and the s/t share the same seriousness and melancholia, but while the previous is more stone-faced, this one is more melancholic, playful and just downright free.

The orchestral tone is gone, and all we have is a vast field, a guitar and a voice to guide us. Townes can't disappoint, the songs are stark, and more streamlined into being a showcase of penmanship, with elegiac quality, and an abundance of clear personal sadness. It was a hard task to follow up Our Mother the Mountain, but with a tweak in approach, TVZ accomplishes what many strive to do, yet fail tremendously.
