Hotel California

My dads favourite band so Heard the songs to death on the first half of this album. Not as familiar with the second half so enjoyed that a little more.

I feel like I should give this a 5 - after all, it's a classic and includes worthy hits such as Hotel California (love the guitar solos at the end) and Life in the Fast Lane. But there's just something about the album that I find underwhelming. Maybe it's a little too perfect, a little too polished. It just doesn't make me say "I want to listen to this again." I even listened to it multiple times to see if I was missing something, but no. So, I'm giving it a 4. Great songs, including some stone cold classics (I also like Victim of Love), but it's just missing that je ne sais quoi.

Sheesh - Way more ballads on this one that I know what to do with. It's interesting to see what's classified as rock n' roll over the years.

A few of the songs piqued my interest, and you can't help but love the title track. Beyond that though, it felt a little flat and dreary.

I guess I had to be there to appreciate it.

Hotel California and Life In The Fast Lane cement this album in the American psyche. Wasted Time is just one of those lazy ballads. I hear that Parliament synth tone in Pretty Maids All In A Row. The Last Resort is another overly saccharine effort.

Aparte del bombazo de la canción que da título al disco solo un par de cosas interesantes. Y eso que me gusta la Americana music y hace muchísimo que no oía este disco y pensé que lo mismo había madurado como para apreciarlo.
