There are a few solid tracks on this one. Pearl Jam does a F—kin up cover. Definitely too many Neil Young albums on this list though.
Rated 6/10
Neil Young is a grumpy old sort isn't he? Capable of both the most brilliant gorgeous rock and then, at the same time, like he's listened to Jagger's solo career and thought "YES, the world needs more of this"
2 stars, plus 1 because I felt bad only giving Neil 2 stars and he'd probably get the arse with me.

this was a slog to get through. neil young at his worst

Neil is one of my favourite dudes but this one is far from essential. Who's going to make a version of of this list with any creativity at all?
Rated 6/10
Shaggy garage rock from an arena filler, loud and heavy and thick as sludge - NY is at his best in hard rock mode with guitar blazing and this is a giant dose of that. Not quite at the level of his 70s albums, but full of verge and reinventing himself for the 90s as the godfather of grunge - you can really hear what Pearl Jam in particular took from him here. The songs aren't especially remarkable, but work perfectly as mid tempo blues grooves for him to stretch out. And his guitar playing on this is great: controlled chaos on the precipice, the tone and phrasing and squall are so distinctive.
Favorites: white line, fkng up, love to burn, mansion on the hill, love and only love

You can tell he thinks he sounds amazing.

Neil young kyllä osaa! 4/5
Rated 4/10
Mediocre garage band music from start to finish. A mediocre band would get three stars, but Mr. Young knows better than this.

What I imagine I sound like when I'm 3 beers over my limit. Overly emotional and sad about regular shit.
The skill is clearly there (even if I don't love his voice), but the vibe is just dramatic with nothing to back it up.

Very strong album for Neil.

I'm always praying that I've listened to my last Neil Young album on this list, and am always disappointed.
Another basic-ass boomer rock album. 2.5/5 -> 3/5
Rated 2/10
Den her plade var nok det værste "grunge" jeg nogensinde har hørt.. hans stemme virkede ekstra træls på den her plade

Might be the worst Neil Young album I have listened to. Can definitely see how influential he was on the grunge movement, but this just wasn't all that great. 2/5
Rated 4/10
Pretty solid moody country rock. About what I expected from what I’d heard of Neil Young before. I can see why Pearl Jam liked it so much.
Rated 8/10
I dont care much for Young's voice. I was sure id end up hating this album. First track met my low expectations. Then white line played and i was blown away by how much i enjoyed it. Then fuckin up played and i enjoyed it more. I was confused and amazed. Not every track resounded with me eventually, but im shocked i found a lot of good stuff in here. Still dont care much for Young's voice but thats ok. Solid album.
Rated 2/10
This is a chore to listen to, with its extremely boring musicality, Neil's less than enjoyable singing, and just the utter "whatever"-ness of it all. I was coasting through most of this album thinking it could scrape by with a two star, but the second (!) ten minute song on the album really broke me, with just a complete lack of joy coming from within. This is music made to appeal to the most trivial of stereotypes from the era, and the fact that this has been lumped in with grunge for years now is a sin. This is dad rock, through and through, and while I absolutely love Young's On the Beach, this is nothing similar to that at all, and is much worse off for it. Maybe its Crazy Horse's fault? I'll have to keep that in mind when listening to his other albums.
Rated 8/10
Over and Over is good. Farmer John is pretty awful. But overall I liked this, despite it ticking several boxes that would normally predispose me not to. The guitar sound was really nice. Just edges into a four for me.
Rated 10/10
I didn't know Neil Young could jam
