The beats on this record are pretty solid, but the rap lyrics are so juvinile and simplistic. That is... when he does rap. A lot of what's going on here is just sampling and looping of beats and lyrics. In Halfsharkalligatorhalfman you can hear where the loop track restarts (its a little dead air between loops). This should have been polished out in post-production.

This guy raps a lot about sodomy, or unsolicited groping. There is a whole 2 minute skit about a woman's gynecology exam for some reason. This is a strange one...

An example of the fucked up lyrics on this record... From the skit "Elective Surgery"...

You have bees flying around your rectum.....

Wtf?!? Dude must have had thought someone said anal bees instead of anal beads.

Favourite songs: Wild and Crazy, 3000, I'm Destructive, Dr. Octagon

Least favourite songs: Intro, I Got to Tell You, General Hospital, A Visit to the Gynecologyst, Elective Surgery, 1977(fuck skits... Especially when they are just samples of fucking pornos), Blue Flowers (both versions.... Although the revisited version is better)

This is great. The whole gynecologist gimmick is definitely cringe, but it’s only a small part of it. Beats and rhymes are fantastic!

This was a chore to listen to. I didn't find it doing anything really interesting other than moral shock stuff. god that stunk

Rated 4/10

I stand behind my beliefs that Kool Keith is clinically insane. I'd put this into the same musically interesting category as Wesley Willis' albums. Bizarre, profane, nonsensical, but unrefutably creative and expressive.

Rated 10/10

Very very weird, and very very good. Almost like an afrocentric sci-fi concept album, about aliens and medical malpractice. At points it sounds like the afrofuturism of the previous decade, but with a tonne more swearing, at other times he is staking a claim to his place (Kool Keith, not the good Dr.) as a progenitor of early hip-hop. Absolutely fascinating and engaging, and possibly the most memorable album I have had so far.

This is like nothing else out there - and I loved every strange minute of it!

Rated 2/10

Skits...Repetitive...Meh, not for me. It is also very crass, I would not feel comfortable playing this in public. I did like "Halfsharkalligatorhalfman" though.

Rated 2/10

Can I stop listening to this? This is boring at best and disgusting at worst. Nothing here earns that musical quality seal to excuse some of the things said on here, and while I know that's the point, that doesn't mean I want to listen to it. Yes, the scratching and some of the beats are rarely good, but any album that thinks using Canon in D as a back beat is clever is no musical genius in my eyes. I'm only halfway through this and already want to stop, and that's rare for an album, even my one stars.

After finishing it (although I did skip a good chunk of the songs once I figured out he was just gonna be rapping about rectums once again) I can confirm this is the lowest of the low. This may be my least favorite album so far, and if not, it's still terrible.

Rated 10/10

Such a great album. I love Dan the Automator's production and Kool Keith's weird off-kilter lyrics. It gets a bit juvenile at points though I will say. I've always felt like this was a sister album to Deltron 3030.

Primera vez que sé de la existencia de este disco y este rapero. "3000", "Earth People", "No Awareness" o "halfsharkalligatorhalfman".
Excelente rap de los 90 que merece la pena escuchar más de una vez.

Heard "Blue Flowers" on a CMJ CD sampler and was captivated at 15. Bought the album on CD and it was a cult hit amongst me and my friends in high school. I put these songs on more than a few mix tapes. It was a perfect blend of elements for me at that time in my life. The absurd and often immature sense of humor had a lot to do with it, but really, the main things that appealed to me were Kool Keith's sheer willingness to embrace his eccentricity, and Dan The Automator's gorgeous genre bending beats. Both of them dared to defy the mainstream sound of the time, both sonically and lyrically. Their bravery in willing to be themselves paid off, and inspired more to follow, not the least of which was MF Doom.
