Interesting tidbit if information about Spirit.... Listen to their song Taurus, then listen to the opening of Stairway to Heaven by Zeppelin. There are definately some similarities there. Randy California, the guitarist of Spirit, never sued during his lifetime, but his estate later did after he died. They lost the case, but Jimmy Page definately drew inspiration from that song for his riff in Stairway I'd say. Also, Spirit toured quite a bit with Zeppelin I guess, but never really broke through to the mainstream.

This band is like Dollar Store Beck. This is the kind of blues rock pseudo hip hop music that could be found on every university radio station ever in the 90's/00's. That's not to say that it is necessarily bad, just mediocre at best. Do I need to listen to this album before I croak.... No. Has this sound been done hundreds of times before by more qualified acts.... Yes. Am I angry that I listened to this... Not necessarily, but it doesn't belong on this list, that's for sure

G. Love should have stopped the record around the 40 minute mark.... The last three songs on the record aren't great, but the rest of the album isn't terrible.

This one surprised the hell out of me. Never heard of John Grant, so had no idea what to expect. He is an indie folk artist or maybe synth pop... And his super weird lyrics mixed with his baritone voice and atmospheric music style made for some really interesting listening. I quite enjoyed it!

Favourite songs: Sigourney Weaver, Outer Space, It's Easier, TC & Honeybear, Marz, Silver Platter Club, Where the Dreams Go to Die, Queen of Denmark, Leopard and Lamb

This is a folk/blues/country album. Kind of reminds me of Gene Clark.

This album is definately back loaded (once the song Everybody's Talkin' comes on the album gets so much better). This is not bad, but nothing to get too excited about.

I never knew that Fred Neil wrote the original version of Everybody's Talkin'. I remember Harry Nilsson's version being used in Midnight Cowboy, and Hangover 3. Solid song.

Favourite songs: Everybody's Talkin', Sweet Cocaine, Everything Happens, Green Rocky Road, That's the Bag I'm In

Least favourite songs: The Dolphins

This is Costello's debut album. Very strong for a debut, and possibly his best album yet that I've heard on this generator. This was before his downward spiral into fucking new wave and shit. On this album, he has bits of country, rockabilly, 50's rock and roll, pub rock, and punk. A pretty solid power pop record. I'm impressed. Typically I hate Costello, but I can get behind this album.

Favourite songs: Waiting for the End of the World, Mystery Dance, Pay It Back, Blame it on Cain, I'm Not Angry, Alison, Sneaky Feelings, Miracle Man

Least favourite songs: Less Than Zero

Why the fuck is this album on this list? And why does Fiona Apple have 2 albums on this list? Modern day Kate Bush. This album is made up predominantly of garbage. The album cover is dumb as fuck to match the album.

Favourite songs: Heavy Balloon, Under the Table

Least favourite songs: I Want You to Love Me (a perfectly good song that for some reason has a chicken getting railed for the last 30 seconds of the song), Fetch the Bolt Cutters (1 minute of dogs barking to finish this song off..... Wtf), Newspaper, Ladies, For Her, On I Go

Rated 8/10

It is insane how much this sounds like Bowie. I read that Mott the Hoople was offered the rights to Suffregate City and turned it down, so then Bowie took it. Solid album!

Least favourite songs: Hymn for the Dudes

Robbie is like a modern day George Michael... Or he trys to be anyways. Like a more upbeat James Blunt.... Or a shittier Oasis.

Here are my favourite lyrics from the album:

From the song Ego Agogo...

"Hide away in your ivory tower
And cover me in your golden shower"

He wants someone to piss on him, lol.

Favourite songs: Angels, Let Me Entertain You, South of the Border, Ego Agogo, Life Thru a Lens

Least favourite songs: Clean, Baby Girl Window

This album has deep rooted nostalgia for me. I remember one summer in the late 90's I stayed at my aunt and uncle's place in the city for a few days in the summer and my cousin was a few years older than me. He introduced me to this album, which was so different from the hillbilly backwoods shit I had been privvy to my whole childhood, coming from a little rural town. This would have been my first introduction to music that wasn't country or like commercial classic rock or radio hits. Smashing Pumpkins were kind of an underground, unknown genre of music at the time for me. I remember hearing how overdriven and fuzzy their guitars were and thinking "holy balls, wtf is this"... That led me to explore heavier shit, and the rest is history. But this album is largely responsible for me getting into alt rock/metal in the 00's.

I also remember in the song Zero when Billy sings "Emptiness is loneliness, and loneliness is cleanliness, and cleanliness is godliness, and God is empty just like me"... That was the darkest shit I had ever heard up to that point coming from a strong Christian family. Just hearing that I felt like I was gonna be struck down by lightning or some shit. Thinking back now, that isn't even that hard of a lyric, but at the time it was crazy.

Now I'm not saying that this is the most amazing album ever... It does have its drawbacks. Mainly, it kind of overstays its welcome, with the 2hr runtime, but this album is so deep rooted in nostalgia for me that it is impossible for me not to give this high marks. I'll always be greatful to my cousin for opening my mind to new types of music, and really starting me down the road to exploring new and different sounds.

Favourite songs: Zero, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Jellybelly, 1979, X.Y.U., Here Is No Why, An Ode to No Ode, Tales of a Scorched Earth, "Tonight, Tonight", Bodies, Thirty-Three

Least favourite songs: Porcelina of the Vast Oceans, Take Me Down

Unlike yesterday's "faux French electronica", this is actual French electronica, or perhaps dream pop. Super down tempo, kinda chill music. I had their album "The Virgin Suicides" before, which was a score they wrote for the movie of the same name. As electronica goes it's fine. Nothing too spectacular, but much better than most electronica acts.

Favourite songs: Sexy Boy, La Femme D'Argent, Ce Matin-la, You Make It Easy

Least favourite songs: Le Voyage De Penelope

This album is like elementary school skill level electronica. It is actually classed as faux French electronica because dude isn't even French, he was born in England. Why is this a genre. Is there really that many people who want to pretend to be French ffs??? This album blows. Why the fuck is this on this list...
