Probably about as good as it gets within the confines of ska, and a pretty good precursor to the ska nu-metal genre they was a thing I think?

I remember her being a thing, kind of the first musician I was aware of targeting gamers and geeks. She's obviously smart, but also a bit smug and egotistical, and it does seem like she's a bit of a dick IRL.

I had no idea this was a thing, and what a thing it is! I can see why it didn't hit home, it's not as "nice" as the Talking Heads' or Tom Tom Club's work (they swear!), but the guest stars and heavy riffage bring something else to it. It's what the first Unkle album should have been, more cohesive and less compromised.

I haven't listened to this for at least 25 years now. I always preferred the first Foos album as it was so raw and aggressive, it was like a break-up album.
"The Colour and the Shape" sounds better than I remember it; it's a much more polished album than "Foo Fighters," with hi-fi production and poppier songwriting. When it's good ("Everlong," "Monkey Wrench") it's their best, but it's also got a certain midwestern corniness that brings it down a bit.

Not what I was expecting at all, reminded me of Avalanches or "Hello Nasty"-era Beasties, but doing its own chill thing.

My flatmate was a huge fan of this band, I always found them a bit cheesy, but I admire the orchestration. I think the lead singer might have been one of the first rockstars to come out as neurodiverse, so there's that.

Didn't listen to the whole thing, but I heard enough to get the jist. Reminded me of Swedish pop/rock bands of this era.
