Kind of boilerplate blues rock. More or less exactly what I expect from Clapton.

This is music for poor whites who vote Trump and blame immigrants for taking all the jobs they don't want or aren't qualified to hold.

This is definitely not the same band that made Wish You Were Here. This sounds like Herman's Hermits dropped a bunch of acid.

This album sounds like an episode of Friends.

It's fine for a guy with a guitar. Much better than the hippie shit folk music from yesterday. There's some quite good moments, but overall it's just kind of OK.

I'm so ready to be done with this project.

I mean, this was surprisingly excellent. I'm not sure I'd ever feel the need to pop it on out of nowhere, but if I walked in somewhere and it was playing I'd be pretty pleased. It's an easy 3.5 stars, and I know I may tend to overrate when I'm pleasantly surprised, but I think this deserves a 4. released in 1990 without even a hint of 80s hair band butt rock? yeah, 4 stars it is.

This is pretty terrible, actually. It just sounds like a British guy reciting slam poetry over some fairly basic beats. There's literally no reason anyone would ever need to listen to this.

Perfectly cromulant R&B album. 3.5 stars.

This is pretty good. I'm not sure it's great, but it's getting 4 stars because it's very good and it's not from the fucking 70s.

In my mind, Wilco is very country-ish, so I might not make it through this album.
OK, well, not as country-ish as I thought, though there was some suspicious slide guitar usage at points, but it's still kind of mumbly and unmotivating. I don't get why this is beloved.

So much better than I expected, but it's still a bit annoying that it seems like the entirety of the 50s and most of the 60s is just people remaking the same 15-20 songs. Still, this is very scream-y and funny and pretty fun for a 60s album. 3.5
When Buck Owen’s had the temerity to praise the music of Ray Charles and Chuck Berry, the backlash by country music fans was so intense that, fearing his career was in jeopardy, Owen’s took out full-page advertisements in The Bakersfield Californian and other major trade publications. Titled "A Pledge to Country Music," the ad was a public vow to remain a "country singer" and strictly record within the genre.
Country music is the soundtrack to racism in America.
Oh good. Another 70s rock album. It’s been three whole days, so I was worried — I thought maybe the server had broken.

I don’t know this band, but I think Chrissy Hyde of The Pretenders is in it? I’m too lazy to look it up and I don’t like The Pretenders anyway.
This album was pretty cool though, for an 80s album.

There are times when I really wish I had the book, so I could understand why certain albums have been selected for this project. But, generally those times come when I am listening to an album that makes me so angry that I am determined to never give this author a single penny. This is one of those times.

It’s a little overly whiny, but it’s fine. I know people absolutely adore this guy.

I have never understood why Kiss were a big thing. I have t heard many of their songs, but the ones I have heard have been fairly mediocre. Like this album.
Rated 8/10
This album has a ton of bangers with some really excellent beats. It’s also a little heavy-handed and a little preachy, and the love songs are formulaic — but 14-year-old me thought Rhythm Nation Janet Jackson was the most beautiful women in the entire world. It’s - 3 star album that gets a nostalgia bump.

OK, so, I don't want to overstate this, but what the actual fuck? I'm not a huge fan of 80s pop music, but this is just like a cheap knockoff of 80s pop. Like AI absorbed all the shitty, overproduced, overwrought 80s pop music and spit this out as its rendition. Does it approximate the 80s pop sound? Yeah, pretty well (not that that's a good thing). Is it soulless as fuck? Oh yeah.
Do I hear a harpsichord? Jesus, get me out of here.
