This is a fantastic album, and there is a variety of sounds here. I get grunge-type vibes from some songs, heavier songs like Richard III felt Sonic Youth-influenced, and there are some alt-rock sounds.

Solid album. Suffers from the corny skits that plague albums from this era, but overall good.
These are compelling melodies, and the emotion carries through the vocals. This takes you back in time to a movie or a painting. My initial reaction would be that it is difficult to appreciate something like this in a language I don't speak, but I can feel the sentiment through the music.

This must be about the chillest album on the 1001+. Easy to put on, great Saturday afternoon music, saxophone is excellent. Some songs like Madame Medusa just run a little long with parts that don’t have much going on. But it goes into the summertime rotation.

With each listen I liked this one a little more. Some standout songs for me were Pleasant Street, I Never Asked to be Your Mountain, and the title track.
Rated 6/10
Really nice album, some well written songs and a few that are a little less interesting. Bluesy harmonica, some good acoustic guitar. Overall, an interesting one to get into, especially when I'm just driving around in Jon Voight's car. I do believe the songwriter's typewriter got stuck typing up the name for the last song, however.

This is art. Yes it’s over the top, complex, with 10 minute songs and self indulgent noodling and it’s one of the best at it. Squire is one of the best in the biz on the bass.
Rated 8/10
These songs are mostly fun and high-energy, with a couple of misses. It does slow down a bit towards the end however. Great production and rhythms, it's easy to enjoy.

I did enjoy this, it’s easy to get into and it’s produced wonderfully. This style of music always feels a little drab to me and not necessarily something I would reach for, but I can appreciate it and should put it in the rotation for more listens.
Rated 8/10
Solid album with lots of great tracks, and some variety of sound throughout. No I won’t be making any tired comments about the second song on the album (which is solid) and the last song is bit of a throwaway. Otherwise a great listen.

Such tremendous songwriting. Open airy songs with space for the singer and the instruments to breathe. Some sad songs and songs and overall very enjoyable.
Rated 8/10
Seems like I was totally unaware of anything Madness put out aside from the chorus of Our House. It really was a cool album to listen to; I enjoyed the odd and quirky nature of the songs but felt they were still pretty accessible.
Rated 4/10
Not sure what to say, certainly some interesting beats, catchy mixes. And, I can’t stress this enough, use your headphones if you’re around other people.
Rated 8/10
A fantastic album, although admittedly it starts off stronger than it finishes. Fun songs though, delightful piano in songs like kooks, and the usual energy. A little more of a mainstream feel.
Hit or miss in these blues tracks, some great stuff and some a little less engaging songs. Have You Heard probably my favorite track, the guitar noodling had me floating through the air.
Very cool album. This was a fun listen, uptempo, lots of instrumentation, driving rhythms and varying styles. I’ll come back to this one.
Such a great album, interesting concept, and fantastic all around.
So far, outside the scope of what we are used to, it makes it challenging to properly evaluate. There is a lot of interesting melody here; in some ways, it sounds exactly as I would expect. It would take quite a few additional listens to really dig in and evaluate. I imagine the more I listen, the more I would appreciate it; it's hard to see how or why someone would go straight to a 1 or consider this "bad" on any level.

Mighty fun album. Fun lyrics and stories; just cool to listen to. Backing guitar and steel guitars are great as well. When it comes to country, this sort of classic Bakersfield sound stuff is where I gravitate.
