Turns into one gigantic song after a while, and slow metal seems a bit pointless to me, but there's a few interesting moments, and it's an album I would never have heard otherwise.

Still sounds like the future of hip-hop, even 14 years after it came out. Up there with RTJ, Kendrick and Childish Gambino in the modern rap pantheon. Bordering on concious at points, but still with many of the tropes and all the swagger of 90s gangster rap. Carries on the tradition of respectful nods to heroes being paired with warning them that you're coming for their throne.

A work of genius, and yet another artist to fully explore after the (extra) list

Rubbish - possibly even worse than the one they had in the book. They proved me wrong in one way though - my reviews of their other album said I wouldn't hear of them again, yet here they are.

Another american with a guitar and a book of folk songs. Great. Just what was missing from the book (and the user list). Seriously, is anyone over there *not* putting albums out every five minutes?

It was, like many of the others, fine.

One of the best of the new batch, but still very over-produced and with a very tinny drum sound. At various points it sounds a little like: royal blood, klaxons, destiny's child, linkin park, editors, kasabian, muse, bullet for my valentine, limp bizkit, rage against the machine, skunk anansie, and a bunch more, mostly only briefly.

Lovely to see some 21st century rock, from a new band, but some way short of full marks. Nu-metal crossed with 90s r&b is probably not the future, but it can be plenty of fun

Terrible. I must have listened 3 or 4 times before I realised how short an album this is, because none of the songs had made the slightest impression. I have just turned it off, and don't remember a single thing about any of it, other than I think it was bland and forgettable. Absolutely rubbish

Love the vocals (except the auto-tune bits), but as a whole it's a bit too polished and flawless. An interesting choice, but perhaps one that will drop back out next tine

Ridiculously good - the best of jazz (like her hubby) and parliament/funkadelic, with flawless and arresting vocals and wonderful lyrics. A delight, and another artist to explore once I'm all caught up!

If I was 12 years old, I'd probably think this is hilarious. But I'm not, so i don't. Fills the gap between Beastie Boys / Cypress Hill and Eminem / Limp Bizkit. This is not a niche that needed filled. Stupid as hell, but neither funny nor scary. I'm glad to have heard it only so that I can go back to disregarding their whole discography - but with even 100% certainty that there is nothing of merit that I am missing.
