Jeez, this album is a struggle on every level!

I wasn't sure what to expect, turned out very pleasant, quite lovely.

One, two, cha cha cha, that's the way I like it!
Despite being the 1001 list's token Bollywood entry, I quite enjoyed this, a refreshing change.

Iconic artwork. Nostalgia for the hits, but sadly several misses.
I like they could be experimental and playful under the potential commercial pressures of maintaining that Britpop success, but some of the tracks fall a bit flat. 3.5

Listening to this for the first time... haven't we had this before?
I guess the difficulty with listening to an unfamiliar band, (on the 1001 list), is trying to establish whether they were inspired by or an inspiration to a particular genre.

Such an incredible album! I find some of the ballady ones get a bit long and self-indulgent, but the more funky tracks are superb. Sir Duke, yes siree!
Given Dylan's other albums on the 1001 list, we didn't really need this Live album... sure, the contrast (an heckling) between side one and two is an interesting Wikipedia footnote, but not enough to spend 90 minutes on.
One thing that I've learnt about myself during this 1001 albums journey... how much I dislike the harmonica!

Being a scouser, I'd heard of Teardrop Explodes (and all the stories that connected other Liverpool 80s bands), but never listened to them.
It feels a bit dated, (I mean it's 80s new wave after all), but I quite enjoyed it!

This is the last of the Bowie albums on my 1001 albums journey, in some ways, the generator has saved the best until last. I enjoyed this much more than the other Bowie albums we've had on the list.

I picked up this on CD in the mid-90s, (not previously knowing much about The Clash), I had it on constant repeat for months! I listened to it twice yesterday!

Just another ex-1001 album!™

Thought it made good ambient background music.
I like Martin Ander's artwork, has a Charles Burns/Blackhole vibe to it.

I did not like their cover of Heard It Through The Grapevine.
The rest of the album was decent mix of funk and soul.

Sure it's dad rock, but my foot kept on tapping!

RIP Ozzy!
(A non-random 1001 selection, the day after Ozzy Osbourne's death)
Rated 6/10
Interesting yet chaotic

Hadn't heard of Nitin Sawhney before, so wasn't sure what to expect from this album, turned out quite pleasant and chill, (I mean apart from the undertones of nuclear dread).
Iconic artwork by R. Crumb!
This album is quite out there in a psychedelic bluesy way. Too much to take in on a first listen, will need to revisit in future.
Felt like I was in a honky-tonk twangy Tarantino movie, just keep that tiger away from my tail!

I was working at Blockbuster Video when this album came out, the promo was on a constant loop. There's only so much of Beautiful Day a soul can take! 1.5

Pacific 202 is still enjoyable, the rest sounds a bit dated, but appreciate the innovations made at the time!
