I don't think i summarized how perfect this album is. Though i might not think all the songs are perfect on their own (Like i'm never gonna listen to The Waiting Room just randomly), it's the sum of the parts that's better. When you listen to the album in full, the songs are perfect. Flowing into one another seamlessly, each song fulfills being another part of the story, and the story is insane. I'm not gonna write it here, because i want to talk about what i think of the album.

In February this year, i was sick of having very few bands in my circulation (Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, and Pink Floyd), so i decided to go onto Reddit and ask people what they thought i should listen to to expand my taste. And one person said The Doors' debut. So i listened to the first 2 songs and didn't care for it (i loved it on relisten). So then, still determined to find an album that would expand my taste, i searched up on google, simply "best albums of all time". And what i ended up listening to brought me to this one special album...

...It was In The Court Of The Crimson King. I listened to it and it blew my mind. I realized i liked this genre... "Oh, what's this called, progressive rock? Huh, this is good!" And so after that i searched up "famous prog bands". Of course there was Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Yes, but one stood out to me, and i knew i needed to hear them... GENESIS. and elp

I listened to every King Crimson album, but in the meanwhile, i also listened to every Genesis album on the side. From Genesis To Revelation was mid. Trespass was better, but still didn't grab me. Nursery Cryme is where it happened. The second Musical Box started i loved Genesis. Foxtrot was even better, containing a top 3 song of all time for me (Supper's Ready). Then Selling England By The Pound. Maybe it was just because i was really happy that day, but i ADORED this album. I couldn't get enough of all the songs, but especially Dancing With The Moonlit Knight, and More Fool Me. But then i got to The Lamb. And i was EXCITED. People had hyped this album so much on all sites, i knew it couldn't live up to the praise. But it did. Oh, it did.

This is just absolutely a perfect album. Side A specifically is one of the best sides in music. Cuckoo Cocoon into In The Cage is absolutely insane. The B side is amazing too, Back In N.Y.C. Is so, sosososososososososososososososososososososo perfect. The Carpet Crawlers incorporating the sound of the title tracks is so cool and that song is amazing. The Chamber Of 32 Doors is somehow better, just the lyrics and the best part on the album has to be "And every single door i've walked thruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu......................... BRINGS ME BACK, BACK HERE AGAIN!" The echo after the note is so good. Then the C side is great, Lilywhite Lilith being the continuation of The Chamber Of 32 Doors is perfect and this song is so catchy. Anyway is genuinely one of the greatest songs i've ever heard. The instrumentals and the verses, ohhhhhhhh it's perfect. The Lamia is just perfect, i don't have much more to say about it. D side's also perfect, The Colony Of Slippermen has 3 sections and they're all amazing. The Arrival is really good, but A Visit To The Doktor is the best part of the song. "YOU'RE IN THE COLONY OF SLIPPERMEN! THERE'S NO WHO? WHY? WHAT? OR WHEN?" Its chorus is so catchy, amazing. The last mainly notable songs on the album is The Light Dies Down On Broadway and it. The former being the 2nd song to incorporate elements of the title track (Carpet Crawlers was the 1st), since it's just a reprise of the title track. And the latter being one of the most upbeat songs ever, which is weird considering (SPOILERS) | Rael goes through hell until this song, when he discovers himself. It's the greatest double album of all time. And one of the greatest of all time in general.

There's also this animation for this album that tells the story through visuals. Link down below. And i'll also have a link for the Wikipedia page so you can read the story of the album and understand it. And also, if you made it here, thanks for reading my review and seeing how much this album means to me. This album changed my life. And it only happened 9 months ago. Just to show how much this album changed me, since Genesis, i've listened to every ELP and APP album. Some of my favorite prog bands and just bands in general. And without Genesis i wouldn't have listened to this album. This album is utterly perfect. And i adore it.

Wiki Page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lamb_Lies_Down_on_Broadway

Best songs: The lamb lies down on broadway, In the cage, Back in N.Y.C. it. Anyway, The light dies down on broadway, The chamber of 32 doors, The grand parade of lifeless packaging, The carpet crawlers, The lamia.
In the middle songs: Broadway melody of 1974, Counting out time, The colony of Slippermen, Lilywhite Lilith, Fly on a windshield, In the rapids, Cuckoo cucoon, Here comes the supernatural Anaesthetist, Silent sorrow in empty boats, Hairless heart, Riding the scree.
Worst songs: Ravine, The waiting room.

I love this cover.
This album is great, though a tad bit overrated. Now the title track isn't overrated a single bit, it's just the instrumentals. I think Low did it much better.

You kind of have to compare this to Low. Both are the big albums of the Berlin trilogy (Poor Lodger). The structure is the same with side b being almost all instrumental, so it's hard to not compare. But here's the thing...

When comparing them, i noticed something. So the structures are the same on both albums, Side a vocal songs, side b instrumentals. But what i noticed was the weird pattern of the vocal side a being better here, but on Low it does the instrumentals better. So thats why they're both tied. They do they're own things while being different.

So all in all, it's basically just another brick in the Berlin wall. I like it.

NEED TO HEAR RATING: DEFINITELY HEAR

Best song: "Heroes"
Worst song: Sense Of Doubt
Underrated: Blackout

The most underrated psychpop album ever.

What are people thinking? This clears Sgt. Pepper!

This album is SOOO Good. The high points are insane, and the low points are good enough for me to still say i love them. WHY DOES NOBODY TALK ABOUT IT!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Perfect album. Would buy.

Blind listen. It turned out so well.

I've never heard anything Geese or Cameron, so this was completely new to me, this is why it shocks me that i like this album.

This is a modern album, i don't like that many of those, but WOW. This knocked my socks off, this flabbergasted me, maybe i'm amazed, but this was like sucking monkberry moon delight, now i know i've been making these Macca references, but truly, this Paul'd my McCartney.

It is truly...

Good But/Over Rated

I don't think this holds a candle to & Nico. Like yeah, I love I Heard Her Call My Name and i think it's so underrated, i think Sister Ray is very overrated, because it's good, but top 1,000 of all time? Probably not even top 5,000 for me.

Title track is overrated, and Lady Godiva's Operation is very disturbing in lyrics and sound. The Gift was actually pretty good, just too much filler in the story, and there's nothing to say about Here She Comes Now, it's basically nothing, it's just a 2 minute interlude between the worst song and the best.

I think the gaps in between the verses in Sister Ray are good, but when i was listening to it i was thinking "I got the point, you guys are good, now get the song over with, we're only two verses away".

It's a good album. Even just for IHHCMN.

Talking Heads, oh Talking Heads. How great you are.

Most underrated TH album. This thing is only talked about for the hits. This Must Be The Place, Burning Down The House, Girlfriend Is Better, and Making Flippy Floppy. But the other songs on here are great.

I love Swamp, it's just so catchy. Slippery People and Pull Up The Roots are also great, and of course...

"EVERYBODY!
GET IN NOW!"

Making Flippy Floppy is a new personal favorite Heads song. I love it, it's so good. Yeah.

Talking Heads finally clicked.

I have never clicked with Talking Heads besides Psycho Killer. I heard 77 yesterday and just kinda enjoyed it. Now i know what most people hear, and i love it.

Such good songs on here, The Big Country, The Good Thing, I'm Not In Love and especially Take Me To The River. Take Me To The River gets me hyped for Stop Making Sense since i'm going through TH's discog.

Best song: Take Me To The River

Talking Heads did it! Again! And again!

They have made 3 consistently good albums from their debut to this. And this one's the best.

I Zimbra is SOO good. With it basically being an instrumental, it is an amazing one, and easily one of the best on the album.

Life During Wartime is the best song by the band since Psycho Killer. It's just SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOD. This is one i would definitely come back to.

"Someone controls this Electric Guitar" is so good of a line. UNDERAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATED!

Then Drugs. Really strange song, love.

Fear Of Music does one thing mainly. GET ME HYPED FOR REMAIN IN LIGHT!

NEED TO HEAR RATING: DEFINITELY HEAR

Best song: Life During Wartime

Albums planned for my AOTY series Really popular and highly acclaimed albums i've never listened to that the 1001 Albums Generator stole: 1

This was SOOOOOOOOSOSOSOOO GOOD!

This is easily an album that diverted my expectations, with how i thought he was gonna have a basic folk voice, but he ended up having a very unique and great voice.

So many amazing songs, literally every song except Bye, as it's just a piano instrumental.

NEED TO HEAR RATING: NEED TO HEAR

Best song: Everything Reminds Me Of Her
Worst song: Bye
Underrated: In The Lost And Found (Honky Bach) / The Roost

What? This is the 2nd greatest album... EVER!?!?!?!?

Anyone with taste will recognise the hard rockin', Who soundin, song called ELECTIONEERING as the true best song on the album, and even the best Radiohead song.

Creep? Mid. Paranoid Android? Just a guitar solo to me. Karma Police? Overrated. Nude? Nah. No Surprises? Good, but overrated. Fitter Happier? No one's saying this. And if you are, you're just plain wrong.

I like it less than In Rainbows. Rainbows had multiple highs while this album is just "Electioneering and 11 others". But it's fine, it's insanely hyped but it's good.

NEED TO HEAR RATING: HEAR

Best song: Electioneering
Worst song: Fitter Happier

Yeah.

I don't like Radiohead.

They aren't my thing.

Never have been,

I don't like most alt rock.

Some i actually do,

But not a lot.

So i don't care for this album.

This is one of GOAT's and IT GOT MUST HEAR ON AOTY!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just so amazing, i'm speechless, this is an amazing album i love it so much. Every, single, song, is, AMAZING!

Imagine making an album so good it opens with May Be A Price To Pay, and it's not even close to the best on the album, MAY BE A PRICE TO PAY. Games People Play is perfection. It's actually immaculate.

But what's better (somehow) is TIME. This song is insane. That note when Eric goes
"TILL IT'S GONE
FOREEEEEEEEEEVEEEEER
TILL IT'S GONE
FOREEEEEEEEEEVEEEEER
FOREVER MOOOOOOOOOOORE"
it's amazing

Then we get a very slight drop off with I Don't Wanna Go Home, i still love it, but considering it came right after two of the greatest prog songs of all time, it's not close.

The Gold Bug has always been, and still is, my least favorite, it's much more groovy than i remember, but i still think it pales in comparison to what comes next...

The Turn Of A Friendly Card always has been an amazing album, but what pushes it into GOAT territory is the title track prog epic.

It is absolutely perfect, every part. Pt. 1 of the title track is great, but part 2 is better, Snake Eye is very groovy, The Ace Of Swords is perfect for the medieval gambling vibe of the album, Nothing Left To Lose is so beautiful then builds into an amazing instrumental section and quiets down for Pt. 2 of the title track.

It's. Near. Perfect.

NEED TO HEAR RATING: NEED TO HEAR

Best song: Time
Worst song: The Gold Bug
Underrated: May Be A Price To Pay

APP makes good pop too! According to this album's existence.

This album gets way too much unfair hate. The only bad song on here is Chinese Whispers which is just unneeded and basically just an interlude between Light Of The World and Stereotomy 2.

This album is so catchy. Stereotomy 1 is great, but just too long for just a pop song, and Stereotomy 2 is only 1 minute long, but it's just the best part of Stereotomy 1... THE CHORUS OH IT'S SO GOOD.

APP went from full prog to pop in one album between Eye In The Sky to Ammonia Avenue, but it didn't change anything. They put out just as good music prog or not.

NEED TO HEAR RATING: DEFINITELY HEAR

Best song: Stereotomy
Worst song: Chinese Whispers
Underrated: In The Real World

So... It's one of the worst Alan Parsons albums, but at least it's still good... Enough.

Yeah... There's not much to come back to on this album unlike TOMAIEAP with Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether or I Robot with... The whole album.

Ok, there is some good stuff here. Like Shadow Of A Lonely Man or One More River which are both great. Two of the three instrumentals are great, Those two being Hyper-Gamma-Spaces and In The Lap Of The Gods which already, that's every great song on the album right there.

Some of the band's worst songs are on here, which i know people seem to love What Goes Up... But i don't, or Pyramania. And those are songs i would never play on my own without doing a relisten.

With the four good songs, it drags the album into good tier. But without those, it's a genuinely mid album.

NEED TO HEAR RATING: HEAR

Best song: Shadow Of A Lonely Man
Worst song: What Goes Up...
Underrated: One More River

Alan Parsons 2nd best album is also one of the best of all time.

This album is the best prog band turned pop album of all time, not even just that, even just one of the greatest albums of all time.

Even the worst on the album i don't think are that bad. Gemini, the absolute worst song on the album, i gave a 78 on AOTY, THIS IS WHY THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING!

You're Gonna Get Your Fingers Burned is so good, the title track is amazing, SILENCE AND I! gemini.

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING!
