Remember the massive hype / love for this album "back in the day". Didn't really understand it back then so was quite excited when this came up in the album feed as it seemed a good change to reassess.

But, no, whilst still a perfectly nice album, still don't fully understand the love or inclusion on the 1001 list.

Not all of the 80's was amazing was it? There are tribes in the Brazilian rainforest that have heard "Karma Chameleon" and "Church of the Poison Mind" is an absolute banger. The rest? A blur of synth, sax and Boy George.

The soundtrack to suburban corduroy clad couples politely tucking into salted peanuts and cheap wine before depositing their car keys into a fruit bowl. ("Rikki Don't Lose That Number" is a stone cold classic though)

Too much hate here. Absolutely loved this album, so quite possibly the rating is driven by nostalgia. But from the moment I read the review that Caleb's vocals sounded like "a man gargling rocks" I knew I was in. So much better than the polished stadium rock band they became.

Strange how this is considered "heavy" compared to the modern evolution of punk and, especially, metal. The Scandi fellas dressed all in blank & wearing orge masks whilst screaming into the mic might have thoughts on the subject. That said, there is definitely a grittiness to it, and you can hear the STRUT of Iggy blasting out the speakers.

Stunning voice - probably better on the big hits of the Walker Bros tbh, but that's because as an uneducated luddite, I rather enjoy pop hits vs "this is music to MAKE YOU THINK"

Utterly baffled by the overall score on this one (although I almost certainly knew it would be the case listening to it). "The Beatles" but without any hits is as big a snoozefest as you can imagine.
