Knowing of course i only have so much context. It's good - just not as fun/easy of a listen as Buena Vista and or as impressive in the instrumentation as Machito.

I always have a bit of a hard time with Cat Stevens - 1 part kids album, 1 part beautiful, 1 part cheesy, 1 part melodic, 1 part pure 70's. I really can never decide where i stand.

Damn can he write a beautiful melody though!

Its cool to see New Wave turn to Indie Rock - but its just fine.

Not bad, just doesnt need to be on this list.

Can you call 15 mins a "concept" album? Idk, but Simon hitting his stride here as a songwriter.

When the Moog hit, i had to check spotify that i was still listening to S&G.

America, might be one of the most beautiful songs ever written and Mrs. Robinson deserving so - is a classic.

It feels hard to truly call this an album and not collection of songs - but what timeless songs they are.

Hard but actually jazzy. Tied Gfunk with old school boom bap and sampledelia.

If anything a little to one note - but like Biggie that flow and attitude are unmatched.

A bunch of horny white dudes drink cheap beer and make it gross. Is it kinda fun? Sure. Does it feel like Slade's evolution, also sure...is it meant to be on the list? No.

Walks into a Guitar Center...i wonder if we could put ALL of these in the mix. Dude, i gotta listen to more Dinosaur Jr.

Even without being thier best, it's still so good - mix of wall of sound guitar, shredding solos, great indie, noise rock..all of it low-fi to the best way.

You can hate this band/album all you want for "selling out" or whatnot - but it FREAKING rips!

It sure hits the indie grunge/feminist alt scene perfectly.

At first, it's rawness seems like a downside and then it starts to rather show its strength. Almost has a early folk punk vibe

Part industrial? Part Star Wars soundtrack? Part German death metal?

I have no idea what’s happening but oddly enough, I don’t hate it musically.

Ascetically, I’m done with the this BS excuse of using Nazi imagery for “farce” and “irony”. I don’t give a shit, no one buys it.

All the pieces are there for what they’ll achieve.

It’s not the beat of what they’ll do - but it’s the first and for that it worth it!

I know this band was so big in the UK and never made it in the US.

But it’s just feels to me like feel good generic party rock with and crappy lyrics. It’s not bad per se (the lyrics are though). It’s fine..just not listen to before you die. Pure 2.5

CutThe Slits

Rated 4/10

Just trying to pinpoint what this is.

Post punk? Dub? Riot Girl? Art pop?

I know infamously they couldn’t play their instruments..idk, sexist..maybe.. but they sound like a HS cover band (cause they literally were 16/17).

Every so often a album comes along in this project that you don’t know much about and blows you away for an hour…you are not only shocked you didn’t have this in your life before …but makes the project worth it.

Today is such day.

Hate it if you want, call it just sampling and overplayed. But when it comes to making electronic music accessible and going for a vibe- he hit the nail on the head so directly it sold 20 Million copies.

Yes, the production value is great…yes, the creation of G-funk would influence pop music for a decade if not more and yes, the content is just a bunch of 12 yr olds making dick jokes.

Snoop has never been my taste, it’s to long and man the lyrics are brutal 30 years later…but the production…sigh, fine

Take a few guys who are the less famous or drop out members of other famous bands...do some drugs, have the crappiest mix ever and call it experimental and post punk.
