I find horror stuff in music so funny. It’s either so kitschy and campy that it sounds like the Monster Mash. Or it takes itself way too seriously and you have guys from Iowa wearing horror masks playing the hardest metal they can, but it’s still so silly that it has the same impact as the Monster Mash does

Imagine if we got a full album of covers of this done by different muppets.

For whatever reason when I was younger and first started listening to the Talking Heads, Remain in Light just didn’t click with me like some of their other stuff did. I gave it a few chances because it seemed to be generally regarded as their best. After years of listening to the Talking Heads in some form pretty nonstop (thanks Allie) I’ve grown to really appreciate and like this whole album. It really is that great

SisterSonic Youth

Rated 10/10

Sonic Youth is one of my favorite bands and Sister is one of their best albums. It’s when they started going a little more “normal” with their sound (as much as Sonic Youth would ever go normal) while still retaining their experimental nature. A move they would perfect on their next and best album, Daydream Nation. This is the first Sonic Youth album I’ve gotten from the list so far and there’s still 4 more and I can’t wait to get all of them

My favorite of the Black Sabbath albums I’ve heard so far. Dark and just fun. It truly is wild how different this is to anything else that was coming out at the same time. It’s easy to see how this one album pretty much invented a whole genre

Dub HousingPere Ubu

Rated 10/10

I already listened to this album because I had Pere Ubu’s other album come up a few weeks ago and I was intrigued enough to give more of their music a listen. I really loved this album. Weird and avant garde. Initially off putting but then it draws you in and once you’re on the album’s level it just all makes sense. It’s a little disappointing that this has one of the lowest average scores on the list. It’s odd yes, but it’s wholly original and interesting to listen to at least

Had to listen to this on YouTube, for some reason this one isn’t on apple music but their other albums are. I’ve listened to some of their other stuff and enjoyed it but never gave a full album a go before. After listening to this one I’ll definitely need to give their other stuff a deeper listen. Women led indie/post punk deserves more love

EliminatorZZ Top

Rated 6/10

It feels weird to call a ZZ Top album a sellout album. But that’s what Eliminator feels like. I like their earlier stuff that’s more blues rock. But this feels like it’s trying too hard to get played on the radio

Kid ARadiohead

Rated 10/10

I still prefer Ok Computer but Kid A is fantastic and definitely the more original of the 2 albums

Fred NeilFred Neil

Rated 6/10

I was surprised to learn that I’ve heard covers of like half of these songs and never knew they were all written by the same guy. Unfortunately I think I prefer the covers to Fred Neil’s original version in every case

Lo fi done right. This does sound like it was just recorded in some guy’s basement, but the songs are fairly catchy and use their limited sound well

Did Morrisey’s brain worms affect his solo music or is he still making stuff this good but we all just collectively agree to ignore because of who he is now?
