I don't normally catch lyrics on first listen, so I'll take everyone's word for it that this dude drops too many slurs. This was fine, nothing outstanding. 2*

I have a real beef with this list and including every album ever from some artists, regardless of how shit they are.
Oh yeah, this is the guy that growls as an excuse for singing.
The instrumentalists were great, loved the jazz. Can't stand the singer. This felt more like a (not very funny) comedy album. 1*

Time to cleanse my ears after some proto-punk guitar distortions.
Nice listening, sultans of swing is goated, other tracks are nice but hit the same highs for me. 4*
Highlights: sultans of swing, southbound again

It felt like it had a lot of potential, but it was kinda talk-y with the occasional trying to reach for notes, meh. At least it wasn't that long. 2*

DryPJ Harvey

Rated 6/10

There's a lot of PJ Harvey on here. The start of victory made me think of bad guy by Billie Eilish. You could argue PJ Harvey (and other such female vocalists in the 90s) walked so others could run.
This is ok, not for me, but some ok tracks.

Diamond LifeSade

Rated 8/10

This is smooth as shit, no pun intended. Easy 90s smooth jazz station listenin'.
Highlights: smooth operator

TruthJeff Beck

Rated 8/10

New artist for me. Nice blues-y album with a lot of spirit. Doesn't sound like it's from the 60s.
Highlights: greensleeves cover

I never listened to Bowie before this project, and I now admire how this guy kept re-inventing himself between albums and always coming out with something new and fresh vs. prior work. Mad respect. Someday I'll go through his catalogue end to end.
Highlights: golden years

Funky, fun to listen to. This summer breeze version is better than the "yacht rock" version I know.
Highlights: who's that lady, summer breeze pt1

I got to listen to these guys for the first time at warped tour last year. Lots of fun. Fun (black!) ska and ahead of its time. 4*

DocumentR.E.M.

Rated 8/10

This may be my favorite REM album so far (from this project). Felt more cohesive, and has two songs I adore.
Highlights: it's the end of the world as we know it, the one i love

Repeat after me: LIVE ALBUMS ARE RARELY WORTH IT, but this one had great energy, but was same-y after a while.
The apple version had so many live recordings, I only listened to a subset.
Highlights: ace of spades
