All I knew about Nelson is the weed part. I don't like country, but his voice, the stripped-back storytelling, the nice music that is not about trucks and beer and not obnoxiously twangy, all of it was lovely. Would have never considered putting this album on at face value, but glad I did! 5*

Wait, THAT song is called green onions?! Wtf? What other produce songs am I missing out on?
Rinky dink has that little hook I've heard everywhere in surf rock -- is this the first album to do it?
It may be background-y. but felt foundational. 4*

Highlights: green onions, rinky dink

Soooo much Costello on here, this is the 4th one I review? Surely they're not all worthy of the list. He still has that ooga booga voice that's kind of obnoxious, but the instrumentals themselves I enjoyed more. 3*
Highlights: chelsea, radio radio

What a goofy cover. This felt like a 90s good time to me. Nothing goes as hard as groove is in the heart though, so I give it 3*

Not the worst folk/country album I've heard on this list. Found it tolerable because it leaned toward blues. 2*

Maybe it's YABA (yet another british album) that this list is weirdly plagued with, but some of it was weirdly up my alley. Some of it reminded me of Elvis Costello. 3*

Very 80s, and I'm only listening to the first 10 tracks of the remastered version on apple music, which was plenty. First track sounded like some filler background stuff. And then they started singing, holy shit pretentious. He has no business singing that high.
Shitty bargain bin Bowie. 1*

Hard, fast, full of energy. Not always my cup of tea, but kind of enjoyed it 4*
Highlight: postmortem, raining blood (some straight-up Doom music)

First jay-z album that isn't the linkin park collab. Enjoyable enough, though I don't know enough about hip hop to judge its lyricism, or judge it vs other albums. 3*
Highlights: izzo

Ugh country, the bar is so high for me to even tolerate it. First two seconds of the first song, when I only heard guitar, I was like, "oooh this is nice," and then he started singing. Ughhh. 2* because the music itself is not bad, but it's not for me at all.

Exceedingly 80s, but actually kind of fun? I enjoyed this album of popcorn noises. Dream attack sounded like the Cure. 3*

I'm a millenial, I like alternative, and this came out when I graduated high school. I was the target demo. So, my rating is plagued with nostalgia. Still, very iconic songs. Too bad these guys SUCKED live. No charisma. Saw them at Coachella, and they didn't even play Kids!

Highlights: time to pretend, electric feel, kids, the handshake (this one was new to me and I really enjoyed it)

Never listened to the grateful dead, and I'm not stoked it's via live album. I'm generally disappointed by live albums.
This is a meandering jam session where no one plays with each other. What a mess. Like letting a bunch of dudes dick around on instruments for the first time in their lives. 1*
