I started off enjoying this, but then it’s just overbloated to the extent where it just irritated me.

Enjoyable for my morning commute but also forgettable.
Rated 4/10
Not bad modern pop, but also struggling to see this really stand the test of time.

I thought this was a beautiful album. Jasmine has such a lovely, expressive voice, and the music has a real warmth and intimacy to it. I particularly enjoyed how the vocals and instrumentation worked together to create such an emotional atmosphere. I’m not sure it’s an album I’ll return to often, but I’m glad I gave it a listen.
Rated 6/10
Great production and plenty to enjoy, but I found it a bit too poppy for my taste. I wanted more of the dark, atmospheric sound that Billie Eilish does so well. Enjoyable album, but didn’t quite hit the heights I was hoping for.
Rated 6/10
I’m a Rolling Stones fan, so I enjoyed this. It’s a good album, but nowhere near their prime and not exactly breaking new ground. Unlike Blackstar or You Want It Darker, it doesn’t feel like a late-career statement that adds something significant to their legacy. Enjoyable, but not sure it deserves a place on this list.
A decent enough Chemical Brothers album, but hardly essential listening. I’d rather stick on their earlier stuff. Not sure why this made the list.

Didn’t realise nu-metal was back. Assume it will go away again soon. Can’t see this being in the next iteration of the book.
Rated 6/10
Inventive, with some great breakdowns, but I didn’t love it. Interesting to see Poppy pushing the genre in different directions, but not sure it deserves a place on this list when it’s so new. Time will tell if it has any lasting impact.
Rated 8/10
Already a firm favourite, but a proper critical listen today only reinforces why I love this kind of music. Gorgeous melodies, noisy guitars and layers that keep revealing themselves. Not quite a masterpiece, but it’s bloody close.
Rated 8/10
Went in fully expecting to hate this: a 2026 film soundtrack from a hyped pop star. Turns out I was completely wrong. Great alt-pop record that doesn’t outstay its welcome, loved the atmospheric dark feel to this. One of the better surprises on this list.

Good live album.

Didn’t realise this album was already saved in my Spotify library. Couldn’t remember a thing about it until we got to the Nirvana cover. Actually enjoyed it, despite being outside my usual style. I’ll leave it in the library for now and see if I can remember it next time.
Rated 4/10
Reminded me of Nothing But Thieves, which isn’t a good thing. A bit too theatrical and overblown for my tastes.
Rated 4/10
Middle of the road pop rock. Not sure how you can listen to 1,001 albums and still think this is a gem. The singles were catchy, at least.
Rated 4/10
Enjoyed this as some upbeat Friday listening, but nothing really stuck with me. Fun while it lasted, although I’m not sure there’s enough here to warrant another listen.
Rated 4/10
A bit too whiney and emo for my taste. Probably something I would have enjoyed at 14, but definitely not at 38.
Rated 6/10
I listened to this when it came out and it didn’t leave much of an impression on me. Two listens today haven’t really changed that. I can appreciate the musicality and how inventive it is, but nothing really clicked for me. Interesting album, just not really my thing for some reason.
Rated 8/10
Really enjoyed this. I love old-school blues and it doesn’t get much more old-school than Robert Johnson. Obviously more of a collection than an album, and a bit too long for me to come back to regularly, but it’s impossible not to appreciate the influence this music has had.
Rated 4/10
I’ve not really paid much attention to Muse since Black Holes and Revelations. This album has confirmed that decision.
