Can only imagine how great it must have been to actually be there.

Classic songs performed with such intensity that they’re almost a completely different thing entirely.

The only downside is that after hearing this it’s hard to go back to the studio recordings.

First became aware of this album when Beck picked it as the third album to cover for his Record Club in 2009.

This, after covering VU&Nico and Songs of Leonard Cohen.

I didn’t get it then. I don’t get it now

Pre listening thoughts:
Eurgh.. Röyksopp… creators of TV ad music.

Post listening thoughts:
Oh.. Röyksopp… creators of the worlds best TV ad music.

Indie x Electronica x Indian influence.

All the ingredients to be something I love.

First song was great, second is a classic. Then just fell away completely and was mostly dull.

Even the Beatles cover manages to be uninteresting… the Punjabi translation is cool but musically it’s almost a note for note recreation instead of making it theirown.

Feel like this sound could be so much better executed.

Ahh, finally the author of this book gets an electronic music pick right.

Well done, Dimery.

I remember a friend playing AiC at me when we were 15. Decided I didn’t like them and avoided them since.

Big mistake. 17 year old me would have loved this.

Making up for it a couple of decades later though.

Not my thing.

Unique. interesting. technically brilliant. Completely deserving of being on the list.

Just not for me personally.

Scoring on the basis that I found it interesting to listen to and am glad I’ve heard it. Even though I probably won’t come back.
