Difficult to see why "Drop the Pressure" was such a big hit. It's annoying and by far the worst song on an album that is mostly yawn-inducing.
1.5/5.0: Bad

my rating is probably overly critical because this isn’t a bad album buts its so generic i couldnt stand to listen
Rated 6/10
Not absolutely terrible but was willing it to end about 25 minutes in.
Interesting concept, Drop The Pressure and In My Arms are great. Rest was meh.

oday’s listen was Destroy Rock & Roll by Mylo, and I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to.
It opens in a very chilled, almost too-relaxed way to the point where I wondered if it might drift into the background completely. But as the album progresses, it finds its groove and really settles into what it does best. There isn’t a huge amount of variety, and after a while the tracks do start to blend into one another. That said, it works brilliantly as laid-back, feel-good background music.
This isn’t an album packed with big shifts or dramatic moments it’s more about atmosphere and vibe. When you lean into that, it becomes a really enjoyable listen.
Favourite tracks: “Drop the Pressure”, “In My Arms” and “Destroy Rock & Roll” are great fun and full of energy. I also really enjoyed “Sunworshipper”.
Least favourite tracks: Beyond the standout singles, some of the other tracks feel a bit samey and repetitive.
Album artwork: A cool cover. I really like the colours. Simple but effective.

Why is this on the list? It's not even good within it's genre.

This album was a real stinker. Super bland and generic, sounded like background noise, not something special. The title is all hype, as the music is lifeless, boring, repetitive house beat that gets annoying fast. The whole vibe is weak, and with no catchy tunes, 55 minutes felt like forever.
The worst part is how it messes with good samples. Songs like "In My Arms" and "Drop the Pressure" have cool 80s vibes, but they get lost in a boring structure. It's a bummer to hear stuff from Kim Carnes or Boy Meets Girl ruined like that. Honestly, it's an old-fashioned piece of 2000s UK electronica that doesn't belong on a "1001 Albums" list but somewhere a music journalist most likely declared this the future of music and it was forgotten inside of a week.

Okay, I'm two songs in and I get it. This guy was doing great lo-fi hip-hop and sampling in 2005. It's good, it was so fresh at the time. Alright, never mind, the lo-fi was just one song. But he's doing some cool sampling and mixing throughout the album.

I dug the first two tracks well enough, especially the downtempo “Sunworshipper”. That one and “Guilty of Love” actually attempt to do something interesting arrangement-wise. Past that, it drifts very much into something I don't enjoy. “Musclecar” in particular was a chore to sit through.

Another uninspired electronic album from the early 2000s

Imagine hearing this and Daft Punk’s Discovery then picking this one as the ‘must hear before you die’ album.
Give your head a wobble, Robert Dimery.

Mainstream Rock & Roll died in the 2000's but I don't think Mylo gets the kill count for it. The songs worked well enough as background music but weren't really enough to sustain or reward a more attentive listening session. Has it's place I guess, wouldn't really say it is essential, but that goes for the majority of 2004 albums on this list. Namedropping a bunch of Muscle cars or better musicians also doesn't make for great lyricism.

The middle of this album, Drop the Pressure and In My Arms, are fine but the rest kinda drags
Rated 4/10
Favorite track(s): all pretty milquetoast except for the title track and Musclecar Reform Reprise which are absolutely infuriating
Rated 8/10
You know, didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I am. Obviously the title of the album is way more provocative than the actual music. This album isn't going to bust a grape in a fruit fight, but the album isn't trying to Destroy Rock and Roll. Dunno why people hold it against the album, clearly its referencing the sermon sample in the title track, and samples rock and roll bands.
Anyways, yeah. Enjoying this quite a bit more than I thought I would. Kinda brings me back to the lately 2000's, early 2010's vibes with its sunny, airy electronic vibe. Quite a nostalgic sounding album.
Some songs veer a little too much on the dance side vs listening side for me (with at least one song that annoys me, that being guilty of love where the hook is just a rising synth riff that doesn't feel like it has a resolution), but I had a good time with it.

Спочатку думав що зовсім не моє, але тут присутні свої, так би мовити, моменти. Пісня де перераховуються різні виконавці, хітові In My Arms Paris або Four Hundred. Не те щоб прям моє, але 2.5 поставлю.
Rated 6/10
Enjoyable, uncomplicated synth based EDM not trying to be something it’s not; like soul or hip hop, funk, jazz or anything else. Has a sense of humor and self-awareness that was refreshing.
Rated 2/10
Such boring electronic music, about a step up from Muzak, occasionally accompanied by inane and/or repetitive speaking. The music is at best two stars but that talking is annoying enough for me to drop a star.
Sincerely hope this gets replaced in future editions.
