LOVED IT. Really like minimalism in general, and this one was a signing star I hadn't been exposed to in the past. 4.5/5

This album was stellar! Steve created an effect that you would swear was vocalization with instruments. You would think that people were singing by times, but it is just layered instruments. He also pushed a simple instrument like the marimbas to its absolute limit. So cool.
I feel like there are so many layers here that you could listen 5-6 times and hear different intricacies each time that you missed on prior listen. This kinda stuff is so cool. I mean, no, you won't pop this on for a leisurely drive on a Saturday, but people need to slow down and allow themselves to experience this shit. The power of music is insane. What can be accomplished with an instrument and the right composer at the helm is simply wild!
Thank you OP for the recommendation. This album was amazing. I Won't list my "favourite tracks" for this one, because the whole album was one song, but the whole album is my "favorite" here!!

Fine-ish for background music but not really my jam

Hourlong instrumental break, extremely hypnotic. I absolutely loved this one. Close enough to something like Tubular Bells that I don't mind this being on the list

This is like the music they'd play in a montage in a 90s movie where some teen newspaper reporters discover the truth about a conspiracy.
Rated 8/10
Hypnotic and magical; sounds like a bunch of other stuff, from phone alarms to Radiohead (in their AMSP era) - but of course it predates all of them.
Changes gradually but constantly, like the tide or the hour hand of a clock - you only notice it is changing when it has already done it!
A mellow relaxing joy, which only loses a point because classical albums were specifically excluded from the book, so it doesn't qualify on a (daft) technicality.
Rated 10/10
Steve Reich absolutely deserves to be on the list as his influence goes far beyond the world of contemporary classical music.
