A stunning display of the possibilities of jazz fusion. I feel this is a very black album. Not sure how to describe it, but this is one of those albums where I sit back in awe and understand what artists like Simone meant when they said "jazz" is just a term for black classical music. This is one of those albums where the players own the artform, from the mysterious groove of the sung/chanted/spoken word parts to the shimmering percussive chimes descending from the stratosphere.
