Nice enough indie rock with some alt country twang, some power pop jangle, and some hazy psych atmosphere.

The vocals felt amateurish, but otherwise it was fine.

I liked this, but it's just too indie.

Scrappy, wobbly indie-rock from Cincinnati. Lo-fi production, dual vocals, clear influences: REM, Bettie Serveert, Pixies, Velvet Underground, Undertones. Feels like a 90s throwback.
"Funeral Dress" stands out, partly because of that Blondie-esque melody (it's "One Way Or Another" but then slowed down). "Soak It Up" has echoes of Velvet Underground and Bettie Serveert. "Yellow Cotton Dress" registers as another decent moment.
The problem for me is the songwriting. It's pleasant while it's on, but nothing sticks after it's over. The sound is fine. Lo-fi doesn't bother me at all. But the songs themselves are forgettable. They wear their influences clearly but don't carve out their own identity.
Competent but unremarkable.

eh. its sort of jangly indie rock.

Slobs utter donks.
Rated 5/10
Had me worried at first because I'm usually lukewarm-at-best on folky indie rock, but a benefit of releasing pre-2010s is that it remembered to actually be rock music in some way

An album out of time; fully 15 years later than I would have guessed from hearing it first. I enjoyed it, without ever finding the bit extra that would elevate it beyond 3 stars.
Also, the title track is a transposed and slowed down version of Teenage Kicks - the fact they got away with it shows how little attention they must have gained outside of their hometown.
And finally, they should absolutely never swear; neither singer has the accent for it, and it just sounds weird when they do.

Really enjoyed this one.

Someone's from Cincinnati and it shows. 4 stars for a 4-way bean at Clifton and Ludlow. Here's a quarter, get me a York peppermint patty to finish it off.
