Aika samankaltainen ysäri-rock-kikkailu kuin listalla monet muutkin. 2/5

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this album. Never really listened to Primus before, will have to try some more.

Primus Sucks.

Les Claypool is an insanely talented bassist. I love how the bass is the focal point of all of Primus' music. The bass is usually lost in the background of most music, but here it is front and center. I love how these guys don't take themselves too seriously. They are just here to experiment and have fun. They don't care whether anyone likes it or not, they're just here to have fun. The musical fusion they create is like nothing produced anywhere else. An underappreciated band, and a great listen. The fact that Primus had no albums on the original 1001 list is criminal.

This album is the one which catapulted Primus into the public eye. Before that, they were largely just an underground act. Jerry Was a Race Car Driver changed all that!

Favorite songs: Jerry Was a Race Car Driver, Tommy the Cat, Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers, American Life, Sgt. Baker, Fish On (Fisherman Chronicles: Chapter II), Eleven

Least favorite songs: Seas of Cheese, Grandad's Little Ditty

This is great. Those bass riffs. It's a bit too long and a little irritating in places, but it's what the Red Hot Chili Peppers could never do.

Sgt. Baker was the first song to grab me. Les's bass work is incredible. Jerry Was A Racecar Driver is a bop. Is It Luck is rad. Tommy The Cat is a bop. Super cool album!

Rated 8/10

Primus's first 3 albums are such classics. I think I prefer the other two to this one but it's got some absolute bangers. Jerry Was a Race Car Driver is one of their best.

Rated 8/10

Solid rock, with a few cool wee tricks up its sleeve.

Rated 5/10

Felt like it took the album a little while to figure its situation out. The second half was more what I was expecting out of Primus, but the early songs were all over the place

Rated 4/10

It’s taken me over a week to properly get into this album, and I think that’s a sign it’s just not for me, sorry I tried.

Rated 8/10

Man, this brings me back to junior high.
