This album is such a blast! I agree with the guy that says it's like a joke with no context, it definitely feels like it was made for fans of the band first and foremost, complete with their in jokes (of which you will never learn the context), but it also sets the tone of them being jokers, which they very much are. They're clearly a silly band that don't take themselves too seriously.
Despite how comical Vulfpeck are, they're very serious when it comes to their instruments. This album is funk, jazz funk, and soul, with the funk and jazz funk occupying the first and last third, and the middle being almost entirely soul. This music is very technical but they perform brilliantly while managing to get the crowd engaged. The show has a lot of energy, so on that front it's a successful live album.
They do seem a little up their own ass at times, in that Jacob Collier kind of way which is a little annoying, but solid album otherwise.
Should it be in the main list: No
Top 3 songs: Cory Wong, Tesla, It Gets Funkier

This wasn’t for me. I guess it was fine for those who it was for.

I not a big fan of live albums and I wouldn't ever choose to listen to this again, but this was a fun and enjoyable listen. I feel like I would enjoy a studio album much more. 3.25 stars

Never did I think listening to Back Pocket and only Back Pocket years ago that this band would be a soul-funk outfit that can lay down some fantastic instrumentation.

So much fun

Solid modern funk. Suffers a bit by being too long of a runtime, but otherwise solid. The bass player is insanely talented.
Favorite songs: Cory Wong, My First Car, Animal Spirits, Smile Meditation, Baby I Don't Know Oh Oh, 1612, Back Pocket
Least favorite songs: The Sweet Science, Running Away

Love the shit out of this. I'm watching MSG II currently and vulfpeck at the garden is just the best.

That sounded like a good time!

Funky jazz.

A lot of live albums on this extra list, this is one of the better ones, really feel the energy in it. Will look into
More vulfpack

There's some flashes of fun & creativity, but mostly it's like if the weather channel didn't have commercials

Very student-band sounding - technically proficient and well-rehearsed, but without the looseness that comes from having 20+ years experience of playing live.
I'm still not sure live albums have a place on the list, since they're not *really* an album, but everyone else seems less bothered!
Sounds like a fun show, and a band I will explore more fully if/when I get time. Also, reading the wiki page reminded me I had heard the name before, but for a cool and creative stunt and without listening to the album in question.

*snaps fingers, points in a soldierly manner* "I want archers with fiery arrows perched there, there, and there. Second level. Covering all exits. No one escapes... Fire at will!"

Vulpeck is fun and all, but this is a double live album.
