One of the better albums that I’ve listened to recently of the user albums. Good stuff

Tunnistettavasti 2010-luvun indiesaundi, mutta tykkäsin kyllä! 4/5

2010: the year everyone lost the ability to sing in tune.
Rated 5/10
Lo-fi indie punk, and a fun enough concept for the concept album. Warmed up to it as it went on.

Part of me wanted to like this, especially as it went on and I understood what it was trying to do more clearly, but it seems the curse of Springsteen lives on in the bands he inspired. It's just missing... something for me. It could be a little angrier, a bit more melodic, have clearer production, less predictable lyrics, but I really don't think any one of those is the main issue. I think it just is embedded in a project like this at It's core. And when you don't care for the core, it's hard to want to listen to an hour of it. I can tell this means a lot to millennials especially, but I like my punk with a bit less Heartland put into it, I suppose.

One of the best concept albums of all time. The songs are super varied, and there's just so much to unpack. All while melting your face with amazing riffs.
Rated 4/10
I think this whole process has made me realise I’m not a fan of lo-fi music.

I’ve now listened to this four times, and like a few other reviews, I really wanted to like it more than I do. On paper, it’s got a lot going for it: a Civil War-inspired concept album wrapped in scrappy punk energy and Springsteenian ambition. There are moments that catch my ear, and I admire the scope and intent, but somehow it all washes over me without landing. It’s loud, it’s clever, it’s ambitious… but it doesn’t grab me emotionally or stick in my memory. In one ear, out the other. Maybe I’ll come back to it someday and it’ll click, but for now, it’s a respectful shrug.

Billy Bragg meets Bruce Springsteen, to write songs about history. Not a boring as that sounds, but not far off
