Toxicity

Liked this WAY more than I expected to.

Intense, thoughtful, and deep. This album perfectly blends nu metal with political commentary.

I'm actually surprised to find I still think Mezmerize is the best of their albums even after finally listening to this, but this is still utterly fantastic. No band can scratch so many itches at once like SOAD.

Phenomenal album! This is the SOAD album that should have been featured on the 1001 list!

The story Rick Rubin tells about Serj Tankian getting writers block while creating Chop Suey. They told him, just pick a random book off the shelf, find a random passage from that book, and throw that in the song. Serj did that with the Bible, and found the verse:

Father, into your hands I commend my spirit
Father, into your hands
Why have you forsaken me?
In your eyes forsaken me
In your thoughts forsaken me
In your heart forsaken me,

Serj liked how it fit so much, he left it in the song, and it goes hard!!

Favorite songs: Chop Suey!, Aerials, Toxicity, Shimmy, Prison Song, Jet Pilot, ATWA, Bounce, Needles, Deer Dance, X

Least favorite songs: Arto

5/5

If Noam Chomsky became a pirate and joined a metal band this is what it would sound like.

A few albums keep popping up on this user list that I assumed this was on the original list. This is probably the best nu metal album (not got much competition mind you) but 100% should be on the list. 14 year old me absolutely loved it.

Possibly the best album of all time - definitely one I might have nominated if it hadn't already been picked. One of my favourite bands, probably my favourite of their albums, and should absolutely be in the book - not finding a way to include it just shows the author as anti-metal and/or anti-Armenian.
Perfection

Yea this is absolutely should be on the regular list, but glad it got picked up by the listeners. A real high water mark for nu metal.

Truly one of the worst albums ever made
