Repetitive, annoying, violent, and somewhat stupid. Same exact thing every gangsta rapper has been doing for the decade before this, probably longer. 50 Cent's marble mouthed overconfidence has no irony or deprecation whatsoever. Like most stuff in this genre it's all bad all the way down, everything sucks all the time, the only way out is to die. Or kill someone I guess. THe lowest of the low, congratulations.

Rated 4/10

2000's Rappers try not to make an overly long album challenge, impossible. This didn't need to be 74 minutes long, none of it is bad but it doesn't all feel essential. That aside, it's a pretty fun listen that holds up surprisingly well. I like the big beats all throughout and 50 cent has a pleasant voice to listen to. A lot of Hip Hop in the years following tried and failed to sound like this. A bit conflicted on this one, it was a fine album to listen to but way too long and not every song is quite In Da Club genius. Points knocked for the Eminem feature as well.

Rated 4/10

Not as bad as Eminem, but this whole era of hip-hop does very little for me. Beats and production tries really hard to elevate itself above that from the 80s and 90s. I understand wanting to innovate, but it often falls flat. Simplicity is key. Rhymes are unrelatable being mostly tough-guy fantasies, glorifying violence and misogyny. I'd rather listen to Public Enemy or BDP for the millionth time over ever hearing this again.

I hate this. Couldn't finish this rap pile of trash. I guess the only resealing quality was I didn't hear and stupid skies that rap albums tend to have; I only got a little halfway through, there might have been some and I didn't get to them. I'm not going to find out though. 0/5

won me over but then just went on and on and on

Testosterone poisoning!

It's your birthday!!

Rated 2/10

Jesus christ this album is very very long... And aged like milk..

Rated 6/10

Pretty good, held my interest all the way through. Far from the best rap album I’ve ever heard though.

Rated 6/10

Very of its time and time hasn't been kind to it overall, but everyone should listen to Rob Harvilla talk about the troll life of Fiddy on his 2000s edition of 60 Songs that Explain the 90's pod, its a trip.

Rated 6/10

Fitty's troll years have entertained me far more than his rap years.

Rated 6/10

I'm having a hard time with this 50 Cent album. 1hr 15 mins of him rapping about gangs, guns, hoes, and getting his bird sucked. I really don't care about any of that. Gangsta rap is the worst. A far cry from the solid rap of the 80's/early 90's. Every second word is the N-word.... Seems excessive and unnecessary. This album is.... fine I suppose.

Favourite songs: P.I.M.P., Wanksta, In Da Club, Patiently Waiting, If I Can't, Gotta Make It To Heaven

Least favourite songs: Poor Lil Rich

Rated 8/10

A hip hop classic. I liked it a lot, it reminded me of the GTA soundtrack.

Rated 6/10

geeeeez this sounds like elementary school. In Da Club still hits. In general, I don't think 50 has a flow that I like. its very choppy and I'm not a huge gansta rap guy. 21 Questions is a good crossover RnB song.

Rated 6/10

the most interesting part was a six second long soundclip of a coin flipping

Rated 10/10

One of the best debut albums by a rap artist

Rated 6/10

I know this is supposed to be a “classic”, but I guess I’m just not the right age of hip-hop fan to love this. The singles are all great, but many of these songs come and go for me. I love Many Men, and PIMP.

Rated 8/10

It's kind of the quintessential early 2000s rap sound. The early aughts royalty of the hip hop world - Dr. Dre, Eminem, Nate Dogg - are all here. This was a difficult album to listen to with an open mind. I've never really warmed to 50 Cent, and it's especially hard to disassociate from the absolute clown he's become, but honestly, for what it is, it's a damn good album. This is the best selling album to come out of the Aftermath imprint (by anyone not named Eminem).

It's hard to say where to put this album. I don't *adore* it, but that's because I don't *adore* this artist. That said, the beats kept me nodding my head and, if I'm honest, 50 Cent is a pretty damn good storyteller. I think I'd give it a 3.5 stars if I could, but it's undeniable that it is a massive album -- not only one of the biggest of its time, but one of the biggest in its genre of all time. And the diss track about Ja Rule is an excellent reason to bump it to 4.

Rated 4/10

I found this pretty boring. Not as good as most of the other hip hop we've had on this list.
