Rated 6/10

Layers of nonsense, with no clear structure and sounding like it was written by rolling dice to see what to do next.

Rated 8/10

Sehr interessantes Basiswerk der elektronischen Musik aus 1979. Experiment gelungen. Konzeptionell gutes und aus der Nachbarstadt Cologne. Wiederhören um es zu verstehen und geniessen wir empfohlen.

With respect to Can, this did not click for me.

Rated 2/10

I like electronic music. As a relatively new art form, know that there is a certain degree of “you have to walk before you can run.“ This, however, is less “walk before you can run,“ and more “crawl out of the primordial ooze.”

Although I greatly appreciate the pioneers that paved the way for the great electronic music that I’m able to listen to today, That appreciation does not make this weird, early German electronic noise easier to listen to.

Interesting album, but not my fav. 2/5

Rated 6/10

surprisingly good

Rated 8/10

Not exactly what I expected, but interesting and diverting nonetheless.

Rated 6/10

This was an interesting listen. Cool In the Pool is an interesting juxtaposition with the other songs on the album. I like his voice, and appreciated the experimental nature of the album. Oh Lord and Persian Love we're not as interesting to me as cool in the pool and Hollywood. 3.4/5 -> 3/5

Rated 6/10

A rather weird album, but not really that bad. Not necessarily my thing, but I could find elements that I enjoyed and it wasn't annoying. 3/5

A cool little surprise. I could stand to come back to this.

There's a reason this is called "experimental". It was never meant to reach our ears as a fully fledged album. That being said, this wasn't a horrible listen, just a boring one.

Rated 8/10

Wonderfully bizarre and unique. I just don't enjoy the samples that sound like dialogue from a movie or tv show. Although, I guess the album is titled movies so that should have been expected. What the heck I'll round up this time.

Rated 8/10

What a trip.

I absolutely loved this. It's not gonna go into regular rotation for me, but albums like this is exactly why I started listening to 1001 albums. This was far away from anything I'd normally listen to, and made by someone I didn't know. Great album.

Rated 10/10

What an incredibly cool and fun album! Its so charming and has some gorgeous moments that really are just awe inspiring. Most of it is just background music, but its really chill background music that I can easily sink my teeth into, and Holger Czukay's voice is a little silly, but overall really nice, making for a really great little jam thing with bits of greatness sprinkled in; enough so that I don't have anything but praise for this record. Really surprising, but a welcome surprise nonetheless.

Rated 8/10

Deliciously eccentric

Rated 6/10

Strange different and influential, ticks a lot of boxes for an album to be included on this list.

Rated 4/10

Its a weird one today. A fusion of jazz, funk, psychadelic rock, afrobeat, and other world music. Holger is apparently one of the founding members of the krautrock band Can. This album doesn't really have any direction. It just kind of ambles about and doesn't really achieve anything. The ideas he had were solid, but he just didn't stick the landing.

Favourite songs: Cool in the Pool

Least favourite songs: Hollywood Symphony

Spøjs plade, lyder relativt moderne for en plade fra 79.

Rated 8/10

I'm a Can fan but never heard this, cool stuff! Can see the influence on the Eno/Byrne record but this is more musically successful
