Rated 8/10

Crazy Train is pretty much the pinnacle of this genre of arena metal - polished production that sounds amazing, heavy but poppy riffs, accessible hooks, dynamic vocals, wild squealing solos, shredding in just the right quantities, uncut cocaine energy. Big dumb fun and the ballads don't suck too much. But it fades and drags on the bside.

I like Ozzy and I like this album

Rated 6/10

Crazy train kova biisi, muuten lähinnä ok.

Rated 4/10

Crazy Train is an incredible song. The rest bordered on decent to slightly below meh. Honestly was a bit disappointed. 2.5/5

Rated 5/10

rip the legend; this is not as good as his black sabbath work

Rated 6/10

Decent album, but the best songs are the ones you already know, so that's a little disappointing.

Rated 10/10

Fucking Crazy Train on this album might be enough on its own to get to 5 stars, but the addition of Mr. Crowley is absolutely enough.

Rated 6/10

Ozzy's debut came out the same year Black Sabbath made a grand return with Heaven & Hell. While Sabbath delivered interesting song structures and a vocalist who did more than follow vocal lines, Ozzy delivers something more commercial, simpler, and perhaps radio-friendly. Though that's not inherently bad, it doesn't take away that this is all quite simple.

Randy Rhoads' presence is crucial. His riffs make "Crazy Train" and "Mr. Crowley" recognizable. He's the only reason these songs work at all. "Revelation (Mother Earth)" stands out. But beyond being recognizable, I don't think most of these songs are very good. The structures feel less interesting than what Sabbath was doing. Ozzy's voice might even be a mismatch for the musicianship.

Drummer Lee Kerslake and bassist Bob Daisley were denied gold records and income despite playing on the album. Even harsher since Daisley wrote all the lyrics.

This is the best solo work Ozzy released, but removing his name, it's really is nothing more than a pretty decent hard-rock album.
3 stars. Influential and massively popular, but not as good as its reputation suggests.

Great title. He was such a legend; I don't think his lyrics ever got above O-level poetry, but he had so much charm and humour and it really shows here.

Favorite songs: Mr. Crowley, Crazy Train, I Don't Know, Suicide Solution, Goodbye to Romance, No Bone Movies

Least favorite songs: Revelation (Mother Earth)

Not a bad album stand alone, crazy train is a great song, but I wouldn’t replace any of the black sabbath albums for this, or listen to this over them. So I can’t find room for it on the list.
