This was unexpected, not really my kind of thing, I'm sure it was good at the time, but I'm not sure there's anything all that remarkable here. Impressed by the sheer number of albums this man has made though!

Well outside of my wheelhouse but it was a fun listen for what it was. I don't know if I'll listen to it again but I'm not opposed. It sounds dated as you'd expect, but honestly less dated than a lot of mid-60s stuff.

Rated 8/10

France's Frank Sinatra. Solid.

Favourite songs: Toi Et Tes Yeux D'enfant, Le Jour Se Leve, Je T'aimais Tant, Tu T'amuses, Chaque Fois Que J'aime, Quand J'en Aurai Assez, Que C'est Triste Venise, Le Temps, Hier Encore

Least favourite songs: Il Te Suffisiat Que Je T'aime

This was way cool. Hier Encore I have heard before. And this guy can actually sing, which is an improvement over Frank Sinatra.

Seems like in addition to the music sounding very Sinatra, he's a comparable cultural figure for France. Reading the wiki & other reviews, it sounds like he was a cool & interesting guy, but in terms of the album, I'm sorry but I really, really dislike crooner music on the best of days

Rated 6/10

Man, I hate how older musical artists seem to have fifty names for each album. It makes it hard to know exactly what you're listening to. Charles Aznavour is a very important part of French music history, but I don't know if a whole album of his was what was missing from the album list. Especially when both crooners and chanson are well covered. Just find it funny when this stuff is all hunky dory with the users here, but Scott Walker and/or The Divine Comedy are big no-no's. They're, like, the exact same!

Très français, et j'aime la France, alors je l'ai aimé!
