This was total shit and whoever submitted this should be ashamed with themselves. Couldn't finish it.

The goal was unsettling whimsey and they achieved it, but why was that the goal? This album was 'sound and fury signifying nothing'

This is just a Renaissance jester reciting bad slam poetry to terrible backing music that doesn't line up with the poem. This isn't music, it's someone's art project.

I dug the mix of often pleasant instrumentals with dark and bleak lyrics. It was very hauntingly beautiful.

50/50: good and genius/annoying and indulgent. The fact that it sounds like nothing else of this era nudges it up to three.

I enjoy a good "up its own ass" album every now and then, but this one's not my preferred flavor

Really weird, in the best possible way. I was already into it before Nick Cave turned up, but he improved it immensely (as he always does) and made sure it gets full marks from me. All their other albums are on my after-the-list list; if we ever run out of user albums!
