Snoooooooore. I will never get the appeal of Springsteen. Jerking off about heartland America. Boring and lame.

Rated 10/10

Harder, gritter, darker and better (well in my opinion) than Born to Run, this is Springsteens best album, brilliant. His second masterpiece.

Rated 8/10

Never really heard Bruce Springsteen before, it was surprising, not sure why

Rated 10/10

A worthy follow up to "Born To Run." More refined and down to earth, but every bit as powerful and dramatic. This is where he really seems to start embracing the reality of blue collar life in a more direct way, rather than using it as an evocative backdrop for fantastical poetic imagery and escapism. An underrated sweet spot in his catalog. Pair this with "The Promise" to hear how absolutely on fire he was as a songwriter at this point in his career.

ok boss ok. Its that sort of stadium crooner sound of the 80's, talking about how your car is great and your girl is great and how your town is going to shit. Bruce's songs to me are important as historical artifacts but to me his songs are overly saccarine and sentimental without a purpose. It's a story just to make you cry. Not to inspire, not to cast blame, not to offer hope for a future. These are songs meant for and from the present.

I so want to like the Boss...but the Boss rarely does it for me. 2/5

Rated 4/10

There is a semblance of an album that I like within this album, but all of the songs get close to doing something I like and then don't do it. I can understand why someone may not like his voice, but that isn't what bothers me, there's just something I can't fully grasp as to why I don't entirely enjoy this album, but I must be missing something, it's obviously considered a masterpiece of somesort. Perhaps I'll return to this on my own time and see if anything changes.

This list really doesn't need this much Springsteen!

Rated 6/10

Ei oma lemppari Springsteenin tuotannossa. 3/5

Rated 5/10

From a position of basically zero prior experience with Springsteen:
His two modes on this are either Moaning or Growling. The majority of it is moaning, and I much, much, much prefer the parts where he’s growling.

Rated 4/10

"Now, let's hear that song sung properly!" (Vic & Bob gag)

I don't know what to make of this album. Musically sound, vocally less so.
