Pictures At An Exhibition is one of the handful of albums Iv given 1 star. So when I seen another ELP album this morning I let out a big sigh.

And the first song backed up my first conclusion another album of listening to computer game keyboard sounds. To be fair the album did get better as it went on and some of the shorter songs were enjoyable. But not enough to convert me.

I've become a bit of a Prog head over the past couple of years, but this is a bit too "proggy", even for me. This must be what Yes sounds like to people who don't like Yes.

I just don’t think I like prog-rock. Way to self-indulgent by the bands for me. Couple of songs on the critically “weaker” side B were okay, and I didn’t hate this as much as the last ELP, but I didn’t like any of it, either.

Rated 2/10

While I enjoy some of their contemporaries like Genesis, Yes and Rush, I find it really hard to enjoy ELP.
Someone on this site called it prog-for-prog sake and I totally agree with that assessment.

Yes, they're amazing musicians, but a 20 minute song without start, finish or recurring theme to keep you hooked is just a miss. And side two of the LP didn't get better.

Very long opener, album as a whole very prog. Not great, but can appreciate the skill involved in making it

Rated 4/10

Kind of generic prog rock....which isn't a terrible thing if you're a fan. Overall wasn't super impressed with EL&P vs. Rush, Yes, and other prog staples. 2/5

a couple of the shorter songs were okay but nothing really special and some of it quite bizarre

Rated 2/10

I don't think I can get with ELP and their prog ilk, it just feels really dated and musically staid compared to other music of the era (e.g. originally released the same year as Tago Mago which still sounds fresh).

The lyrics are dreadful too:
Can you believe / God makes you breathe
Why did he lose / six million Jews
